Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

I'm a 30+ male from Finland and in search of partners for climbing, hiking or mountaineering as I don't get to climb as much as I would like to with my regular partners.

My goals are not that high though but I would still like to make the most of the coming season - meaning several nice multi-pitching tours and some easy classical mountaineering (plaisir) also. Currently, on a good day, I'm comfortable lead climbing in the 5a-5c range and hang-dogging up to 6c.

I'm based in Zug so a nice way to get started would be to go do some indoor climbing in Pilatus Indoor (Root D4) during the week and get into iron shape for the coming season.

Hi,

are you still looking for a mountaineering buddy? I am here based in Walchwil so if it still the case let's get in touch.

Hello everyone,

I'm also 30+ male, who lives in Zug. I'm looking for a partner I could climb a via ferrata with, go hiking and maybe climbing, but i don't have any outdoor experiance, just climbing walls. I consider myself in good condition

Regards,
Rafal

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

Hi I am based in Adliswil (ZH) I am 29 male. Looking for a buddy for climbing, mountaineering... mainly the latter. I have some plans to do 2 4thousands summits (in PD/PD+ difficulty range) this season but somehow lacking a partner . I have some outdoor experience… did several 4thousandars and used to rock climb 5c/6a. I do not climb much rocks this season because of becoming a father and a bit lack of time... but would like to resume rock climbing as well. I believe I could start from 5a in rocks now.

If anyone interested form the area please PM me.

Regards
Lukas

Hello! I'm moving to Sursee (outside of Lucerne) next week. I'm an alpine climber mostly, but I do some rock and would be open to do more. I'm just looking to connect with other climbers. Feel free to drop me a line!

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

I'm bumping up this old thread of mine as it applies for this season as well.

Still interested in getting to know more people who share an interest in climbing and mountaineering. Looking for easy going, reliable and, most importantly, safety conscious partners.

As the season has not really started yet we also have time to get to know each other in more controlled environment like a climbing gym or a climbing garden before heading to the mountains.

Hi,

I would like to go climbing and mountaineering this season. My gf also climbs and we are based in Cham/Zug.

Keep me/us posted and I'm sure we'll work something out. Would be great!

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

Hello! I'm still here, living in Sursee outside of Luzern.

Finn, Kites, and anyone else - I'd be up for getting together at a rock gym, or we could just meet up for some drinks one night in Luzern?

My wife and I both climb and we are only 15 minutes from Cham/Zug. Finns, Kite, and Elichten...what styles of climbing are you most familiar with?

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

Nice to see that there's a lot of interest! Perhaps we can even form a small climbing group to train regularly.

Ttamasle, last season I mostly did rock climbing but have done some alpine climbing as well. Here's what I'm hoping to be able to do this season to give you some idea:

- Salbit south ridge
- Galengrat Verschneidung to Galenstock (combination of rock and alpine climbing)
- Some PD(+) graded 4000er like Weissmies or Nadelhorn

Would any of you be interested in some climbing in Pilatus Indoor this Wednesday for example?

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

Same for us...what time? After 6:30 is best for us.

We are mostly sport climbers (if we have to classify). Wife is French so she is used to bolted routes and I being from the US am accustomed to dealing with "whatever" climbing situations (climbing is not so popular there). High altitude mountaineering is not something either of has done...but...now that we live here I'm sure we will make a few changes!

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

That works well for me as well so I suggest we meet this Wednesday at 18:30 in the lounge area after the entrance.

I will send you guys my phone number by PM because it would be nice if you could text me if you cannot make it.

For those who cannot make it this time: Just reply here later or send me a PM and we can meet some other day.

You might also want to check out this meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/Switzerland-Outdoor-Climbing . Lots of climbers there from all over Switzerland, and you can post/organize your own events. Membership is free.

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

I am mostly an alpine climber. I'm comfortable with roped up glacier travel, winter camping, etc. I really want to get some altitude!

I don't do a lot of rock although I do enjoy it. If I had to guess I'd say I'm climbing a 5.8 at best. My first son was born 6 months ago and my tolerance for risk has gone waaaay down.

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

I know what you mean about risk. Its a funny thing when someone has 5.11 top-rope skills...they end up having 5.9 sport-lead skills and the further down...sub 5.6 trad skills.

I suppose another way to look at it is: the fun factor seems to goes down as the risk factor goes up.

To think that they there are climbers that free solo the Eiger in under three hours is absolutely mind blowing. That mountains scares me when im at the bottom of it with skis on. Maybe we should not have watched the "North Face".

Re: Climbing or mountaineering partners for the coming season

To confirm, we will arrive around 6:30...assuming that traffic is kind to us.

Should we all wear feathers or something to identify ourselves? On second thought, we cant use feathers...that would mean we are from Appenzeller.

This should be interesting tonight as we have not touched a wall, rock or thought about climbing in over a year. My fingers are going to be upset tomorrow.
