| | Zurich tennis ladder
Guys & Gals, Henmans and Sharapovas,
Anyone have any interest in playing some tennis this summer?
Myself and a few friends are setting up a tennis ladder in Zurich and are looking for others to join us. For those of you not familiar with this, each person is on a rung on a ladder and the aim is to move up the ladder by challenging and beating people above you. If you lose or don't play you move down the ladder. There are various rules to ensure fairness and encourage people to play but it doesn't need to be taken too seriously!
No need to be any good (even never hit a ball!), the benefit of a ladder is you play people at your level. And no need to have lots of time, just as much as you want. Can play lunchtimes, after work, before work, during work....As long as you can commit to a couple of games a month.
There's some great courts in the city, I usually play at this one http://www.tennis-zuerich.ch/ but you can play anywhere. About chf8 each at lunch time of chf10 each after work.
The benefit of this format is you can play anywhere anytime as long its mutually convenient with your challenger!
To kick this off we may have a tennis afternoon and bbq to get to know each other and have a bit of fun.
Please forward to anyone you think might be interested. The more the merrier!
Cheers
Will

Yep, I'm in. Which is more than can be said for my serves...
Though might not actually start playing until may, and it's likely it'll be lunchtimes for me.

Great initiative folks. I just joined the ladder and it would be nice to see new faces Don't try to challenge me before end of May though as will be busy cos I will have league (Interclub) in our local club. But if you have to tough luck, I will be there |

If passion for the game counts, sure! I mean I haven't received training in years, but I'd really like to truly practice again and try to get better. The introductory meeting wouldn't happen to be on the weekend would it? The only days I can make it because of work But if so, sign me up! |

Hi Fred, anyone can book the tennis courts and you don't have to be a member. You can book by phone but not sure about in English!
Don't worry about playing ability, we have some guys in the ladder that have only played once in their life (and some pretty good people!). Beauty of the ladder is you only really play games with people at your level.
Hope to see you on the court soon.

Hi all tennis fans,
Just one word of caution, a few years back, I joined a tennis group after they posted here.
When I arrived, and played (at my normal level), the organiser actually told me off, and called me a showoff. All at the same time, he was trying his best to look like RF (he had his racket, and me not).
So be careful, coz you never know who is really showing off whom.
Take care!
I am RF fan also. I also live in ZH, but I simply am too overbooked. |

Btw: Psst, can I give away BIG secret of the tennis ladder. Never mind tennis, it is all about BBQ and beer/wine and basking in the sun of nearby Mythenquai Badi |

BBQ and the fun stuff you mentioned, are not my cup of tea. Sorry.
I am still keen but how do I book the court or challenge another player? |
