Not directly. However, Cavendish sacrificed his TdF chances to be Wiggins' domestique, playing second fiddle for a long long race. Turns up at the Olympics without a plan B and fuller team support and misses out, not by a little by a huge 28 places... you telling me he isn't going to be a little sore about how 2012 turned out?
Cavendish was never a contender for the Yellow jersey. If anything at all, the Green.
All the talk from Wiggins, Froome et al before the road race was to get Cavendish into a position for the bunch sprint. I'd say that was playing 2nd fiddle, especially as those 2 riders would be competing the time trial 4 days later.
Agreed, they had no back-up plan and had made it pretty obvious what their tactics would be. You could argue that no other team wanted to help out Cav, but then again none of them were going to win whilst still in the peloton either.
I think the turning point was when Cancellara and the Norwegian(?) rider bridged the gap to the leaders on Box Hill. If Cav and a couple of the other GB riders had gone the same time, we could have seen a different result.
Hindsight is a wonderful gift .

Sorry, wasn't clear. Yes he'll never win yellow, but I also don't think he is interested. He is, however, interested in Green and total number of stage wins - which he is high on the table (4th? IIRC).

That's what he gave up any hope of this year. Yes he won a couple of stages (again IIRC), but if he'd had a dedicated team, he probably would have won green or been more of a contender.
