Anyone fancy hitting the slopes next Sunday?

Hi all...moved to Zug yesterday and itching to get a day on the slopes. I'm not great.. Probably blues and reds...don't know where to go, but thinking anywhere on a train! Anyone fancy joining me?

Sian

Try Engelberg it takes 1hr30mins on the train from Zug.

Alternatively check out: http://snow.myswitzerland.com/snow_reports and select the Luzern - Vierwaldsättersee for a list of nearby resorts. I a total novice otherwise I would come along

If the above doesn't work out, sledging on the Zugerberg should be fun too and requires no skiing experience!

If you don't believe me ask Ace1 he is our forum instructor and I was taking my first group lesson with him the Saturday just gone. All I can do is the snow plough (very poorly I must add), I'm going again next Saturday for the second lesson, so maybe you can come along and practice with us on the blue runs?

Engelberg doesnt have much open for beginners at the moment. Will do in a week or so. I was there yesterday, and its all reds at moment.

Visibility can suck sometimes this time of year there too, we were in the soup until about 3 yesterday.

But Engelberg is my favourite place, just quite tough for newbies in my opinion, particularly with no blues open.

This place is great for beginners and learning and the reds are not so challenging. Not had huge snowfalls yet, but its getting there and I think they may be opening this weekend properly. Very small area open at mo. But they have 50cm expected this week. Webcams are looking better. I think I will go here Sunday if all goes well.

I'm confident, given the amount of snow, and still falling, that the Gerschnialp are will be open next weekend. And IMO that's about as good an area for beginners as you will find in Switzerland.

You didn't shout! We were using the rope tow and moving carpet just next to the Truebsee restaurant...

Oh, you said yesterday? Wow, you're keen. I went up for a while, but it wasn't at all fun. Nice snow off-piste, but with no ability to see the snow surface even for one turn it was not the nicest conditions to ski in. I ended up hacking across from Gerschnialp to the Untertruebsee area then skiing down to the village. And then I called it a day.

No the blues were not open, but should hopefully be open next weekend as Ace1 pointed out.

Yes I don't fancy going on those reds anytime soon, they are too steep and narrow

If you want to swot up about it, next weekend we'll be moving through the "Plough Parallel" phase.

And it will be a lot easier on the long wide slopes of Gerschnialp. Oh, and I _could_ show you poor, but trust me, it ain't you.

It would be a massive achievement if I could manage the "Parallel Phase" after the second lesson!

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm looking forward to it already, just hope the weather is gonna be just as good!
