Swim fit - or similar

I am looking to do some sort of swim fit class. Not one of those fannying about aqua-fit classes full of overweight over 50s - but something that is more a cross between circuit training and swimming.

Any one suggest anything?

Re: Swim fit - or similar

That's what I used to think! So I made my own class.

It's an hour long session that combines some technique training whilst working out in the pool. We try to make the sessions fun but the main goal is to improve fitness and technique.

Does that fog your goggles?

So much information - it is like you have given me the location, time, dates etc.

I don't want anything too technique orientated. I can swim OK - won't win an olympic medal or anything - but I can make it across the lake without dying. So more looking at all round fitness.

Re: Swim fit - or similar

There is only one session left before the holidays but our new season starts up again in January. We have classes on Monday and Wednesday nights in the kilchberg hallenbad.

There will be more technique training in the beginners class, but the advanced class is more focused on the pool circuit training.

I have to say, I really enjoy participating in this course, I always get out of the pool exhausted at the end.

Wrong there mate - we enjoyed it so much tonight - there is going to be another one next monday. I tell you what, I felt that we really pushed ourselves tonight. If anyone is thinking of joining, don`t be put off thinking that you have to be a brilliant swimmer (as I am NOT) - you just have to want to push yourself . . and be prepared to BE pushed. It`s a great work-out . . sort of cross-training. . . aaaand . . tonight you got a free piece of cake at the end!

Re: Swim fit - or similar

That was a great session last night! Thanks everyone for coming down.
I was so impressed with the improvements in the sprint times! I mean 4secs over 25m is just awesome! Well done M. So proud of you all!
I am really looking forward to the next season!! If anyone else wants to see what all the fuss is about, PM me for a start date for January 2013!

Re: Swim fit - or similar

Some of the exercises were a little easy - but some were really hard. I reckon I kept you "honest" in the pool Deborah. A few extra training sessions and I might be able to match you on the sprints

Re: Swim fit - or similar

In an Olympic sized pool 50meters, swim not less than a mile equal 32 laps using combination of breast-stroke with free-style every other lap non-stop going. Lovely! Physically you will feel all your muscles workedout and mentally you will feel like a champ It is great for endurance. Afterwards, in-pool stretching works great!
