If you’re up for a challenge, you can ski “Engelberg’s Big Five” in a day: five off-piste runs (Laub, Galtiberg, Steinberg, Steintal, and Kleine and Große Sulz) that deliver 32,808ft of vertical descent.
@A1: When do we get to do the Big Five challenge?

PS: I went down from Truebsee down to the Valley in the afternoon, the part just before you get down to the Gerschnialp area is a killer! It was so steep I couldn't even plough down! Ended up walking down the steep part after one of my skiis came off for the second time... Oops!

Re: Engelberg in the UK papers

More reasons to frequent my winter home

Sucked I didnt even get to go weekend just gone, damn US tax deadlines and people handing their docs in a week before, I was working all weekend .

But both days are reserved for skiing this weekend.

Ace, are you around? I have my best mate and his lady friend with me from the UK, she is a complete beginner and will be doing a ski lesson I picked up from the Engelberg team when they were promoting in Zurich before season kick off. Well actually I picked up two, unsure if she can do an AM and PM one in same day. She has had a taster on dry slope and was by all accounts ok, getting in the basics of standing on the slope, putting edges in, and snow plow and snow plow turns.

We're hoping she can at least get to a stage she can really enjoy it a bit, and maybe even make it down the runs to the bottom with some confidence. My mate thinks I am being fairly optimistic about getting her up on the blue runs by Jochstock, but I am forgetting my learning days. He thinks they are challenging blues.

Do you know what area they do these lessons? I imagine its a basic group thing.

Otherwise, if she struggles at Engelberg we may make the second day Flumserberg.

Heard Sunday is supposed to be a huge snow dump too........
