Cancelling Migros Fitness Membership

I will only be in Zurich for 5-6 months, and I was told two different things by Migros staff; 1/ if you take a 12 month subscription you're obliged to pay it all and they suggested selling the remaining period. 2/ Just stop payment. And I read a old comment on this forum saying "a user can cancel if they move more than 40 miles away".

Is the payment typically monthly and if so is it a financed credit agreement

Comments on this forum are not legally binding. And 40 miles? Really? I have my doubts.

If you feel you can sell the remaining, then go for the 12 month plan. Just stop payment will get your name on the register of non-payers, which will bite you if you ever show up in Switzerland.

Otherwise, if I may ask, why go into a contract longer than your expected stay in Switzerland? Spring and Summer will be here before you know it - why not test your discipline and do your yoga or aerobics in the living room? Come on, it is only five to six months.... you can do it!!
