[Nyon/Gland/Morge]Swimming for babies

Hi
Just arrived in Switzerland and would like to take our 10-month old baby to the pool. Does anyone know or have any experience on good swimming-for-babies lessons in the Nyon/Gland/Morge areas?
Thanks a lot for your input!

I am also interested in swimming for babies in the Nyon area. Just a heads up so that you don't make the same mistake as I did. I took my 5 month old son to the thermal pool in Divonne this afternoon and can report back that it was a huge waste of money (20 EUR entrance fee) and time. The facilities are quite run-down and not at all baby friendly. The only real advantage was that the water is 30C and has some sort of healing qualities. Hmm, I wonder if the little mouse will sleep through the night tonight!!!

Good luck and do let me know if you find somewhere.

Does anyone know of thermal hot-springs (other than Divonne) in the Geneva/Lausanne area where children are allowed to enter?

Re: [Nyon/Gland/Morge]Swimming for babies

Hi Spatzl

I haven't taken him to any pool, yet, as he had a bad cold and is still recovering from it. I plan to start taking him in March, as we'll be away for a week and when we're back he'll be 1!.. the reason being that i've been advised about a nice place for babis. Still haven't checked it out, thouhg, but I believe it's meant to be good. It's in Bursins and it's called Aquarius Swimming. You gotta take the Gland exit to get there and then go left (opposite the direction of Gland town). According to the info I got:
  • course for babies from 4-12 months is on Saturdays b/w 9am and 10am
  • course for 13-24 months is b/w 10am and 11am (that's why i'd rather start in March)
  • water temperature is 28 C and air 30 C
It's a course for mum and baby, and it costs CHF 200 pour 10 seances (frais de participation et acces a la piscine).
Website www.aquarius-swimming.com
If I happen to go first, I'll let you know what I thought about it, ok.
c ya

Re: [Nyon/Gland/Morge]Swimming for babies

Upping this post to find a WARM swimmming pool, preferably with a toddler area (one of those really shallow pool), that isn't gonna make my kids shiver. We tried Gland (Perreret), Nyon (Rochers), both freezing though they are "normal indoors pool temperatures". And really weird that you pay once you're already poolside, with your swimsuit on (need to go back to the locker to get right sum or put change back!)!!

In Zurich I found that toddler pools (the shallow ones), often have warmer water than the pools where you swim length. We were big fans of Fohrbach in Zollikerberg when we lived closeby... Any idea where there is a warm toddler pool in the vicinity of Gland?

TIA!

Have you tried Cheserex ? Pretty sure it has a big pool and a small shallow pool. I didn't take a thermometer with me last time but it felt ok

The big pool was pretty cool and the small pool was much warmer.. Maybe call them and ask?

PS > I'm only 99% sure there were 2 pools!

Pools are usually cold here, or not very warm for tots, unless they are les bains. Spas are super warm. Yverdon les Bains has area for smaller kids, it is not a separate pool but shallower reg pool area, and it is warm.
