Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

Oh, I forgot: they're sometimes also called "Winterbörse". I just saw that there was one last year in the "Volkshaus" in Zurich. Perhaps they'll organize another one this year.

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

have you tried www.ricardo.ch ? it's sort of swiss ebay, you can find great deals there, both second hand and brand new. search the stuff by key words and try to buy from reputable sellers (+98% of positive answers)...
i bought over 20 various items (wine, ipod, clothes), so far very reliable guys there... btw don't even think about buying that blue spyder suit

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

I need to buy new ski boots - love my old ones but they are really worn out. Went to Oschner Sports but I wasn't convinced and I was asked "how does that feel" where I thought boot buying was a science. Does anyone have any recommendations for retailers in the Zug area or should I come to Zurich or Thalwil?

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

Any recommendations on ski helmets?
Is there a stockist within Zurich airport that people would recommend?
I don't want high tech or the cheapest of cheap. I think the word I'm looking for is günstig. Cheers.

The aldi one has already taken place and isn't on the website anymore but there should still be some things left in stock. there were jackets etc there last weekend.

Isn't Lidl only in Germany though? Sorry i know its in UK, Ire etc but not in Switzerland??

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

Tchibo is good quality and value for money.
You can order online.
In store, the packaging is in English as well as in German.
The new catalogue has men's skiing stuff.

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

Drove past Sportfabrik (as recommended by Nicky^^) today and decided to have a look... wish I had been there before! They've got everything, not only for wintersports but also bikes, running shoes, tennis clothing etc. It's not exactly cheap, as they are still selling brands but at least you get quality stuff at reasonable prices. I was looking for new gloves but there were hardly any left, and ended up buying a helmet (finally) & ski carrying bag...

[Zurich] where to find cheap ski gear

Hi All,

Looking around it seems there are a few people trying out some snow sports for the first time and are probably in need of some gear.

C & A equipment looks pretty decent (Im no expert) and at their sale prices is ideal for beginners trying it out.

They had salopettes from 29CHF and jackets from 39chf amongst other things. Men, womens and childrens on sale.

Have been to the branch in Winterthur, Marktgasse and Zurich - beside Jelmoli both with lots of sale stock.

Cheers

Re: where to find cheap ski gear?

Where is the Bachli outlet store in Oerlikon, I'm interested in buying some ski gear, and from the sounds of it they sound like a good shout.

I'll second the Bachli recommendation, we got all our backcountry stuff there two years ago and they gave us great advice. They have a huge shop and an outlet store in Oerlikon, and an Outlet in Uster.

They are under the main Bachlibergsport store in Oerlikon. If you get out of the train station and head towards the ABB (i think thats what it is), go down the street beside ABB and perpendicular to the train station. At the end of that street (there should be a shopping centre ["Center 11" and you'll see a Marriott Courtyard over the road] on your left hand side) turn right [Birchstrasse]. Bachli should then be almost directly across the road from you.

I'm not sure how many on piste ski's suitable for beginner/intermediate they will have though. The tend to specialise in more free ride and touring equipment.

You could also try Sport Plausch Widder in Wallisellen, or Athleticum to pick up some reasonably priced stuff. Many shops seem to still have stuff from last winter for sale at very good prices due to the sever lack of snow in 2006/2007 winter.

Re: [Zurich] where to find cheap ski gear

There's a second hand sports clothes store which is currently doing great deals on ski and snowboard wear:

http://www.sportboerse-zuerich.ch/home/

It's in Zurich Seefeld, Wildbachstrasse.

It's Wider with 1 'd'
www.sportplauschwider.ch

It's on the road between Glattzentrum and the Industriestrasse Dietlikon, where all the megastores are. Very easy to find!

Contacts are great.....if you can wear them, but I can't but wish I could. Do you get prescription ski goggles? Would anyone know of a shop that sells them?
