MTB / Trail riding around Zurich

Anyone who wants to join me on mtb rides around Zurich? I'm going up the Uetliberg at least once a week, and looking for fellow bikers.

I've done some nice flow trails around the back towards Birmensdorf (not the usual stuff like the Triemli trail). Takes about 2 hours or 3 if you include Buchenegg. Shorter tours are also fine.
Style: downhill is nice, trail even better and I appreciate uphill just as much

I'm starting from Leimbach, but can do anywhere between there and Triemli. (e.g. Saalsporthalle or Albisguetli) Or on the other side of course (Zuriberg).

By the way: does anyone know if there's still a meetup on Wednesday's at Triemli?

Best,

René

I really want to take up mountain biking. Have been looking around for a decent bike for awhile now. Definitely would be down to go as soon as I pick something up. How do you normally get to the trails?

I believe the mid-week meetup merged into www.swissalpineadventure.com .....there are regular group rides around zurich organised through there, or you can suggest one yourself and get a group together.

U2usual, you get to the trails by riding there on your bike......if you dont know where, get a Zurich singetrail map, it's a great buy

Thanks, found that one, but does not show much activity around Zurich at the moment. And my experience with the meetup thing is a lot of no-show. But can always try and organise something again.

The SwissAlpineAdventures ("SAA") meetups are great.
The ones around Zurich are usually earlier in the year (and later, towards autumn) - because when it's getting dark early, it doesn't make sense to go to Zug or Baden for a ride...

SAA doesnt have much no show......it's limited to 8-15 riders depending on the ride and will generally get that

Re: MTB / Trail riding around Zurich

SAA Works very hard to have almost zero no shows on their events. All the events run are accessible from Zurich. The feeling is that anyone can take a run down the Antenna trail at any time, so while the evenings are long we try to get people out of the city and show options that most people wouldn't otherwise think about. You would be surprised how much stuff is actually quite easily accessible from Zurich after work.

As an example next Tuesdays afterwork ride is nearer Luzern, but a number of people still travel from Zurich for it. Coming up there will be rides on Geissberg, Altberg, Zugerberg and at some point we may even revisit Uetliberg again.

If that is not your cup of tea there is always the option to suggest a ride that you find more suitable. With over 800 members and nearly 200 events in the last 18 months I don't know of any more active cycling communities in Switzerland.
