Ski Touring Course in January anyone?

Hi all

I am planning on doing a ski touring course in Jan run by a shop in Zuri, and was wondering if anyone else was up for it !!

From what I know of last years, its 4 saturdays (or sundays) in Jan - and they have levels ranging from Beginnner - Advanced in both Skiiing ability and Touring ability.

There is more information to come in the next few weeks, which I will post when I get it, but for now I was just interested to see if anyone could/would/should do it :>

If you have ever tasted powder, there is no going back - and I am not talking about drugs here !!

Hey Ash,

I'd love to join the tour.. as a snowboarder. I moved to Zurich in july so Im still in the process of bringing my stuff but hopefully by the end of November I will have had all my snowboarding hardware in here. I am open for any tour plans.

not sure they cater to snowboarders, but will let you know. even if they dont, we can always get out an about after my course :> when it really snows round here, you can tour very close to Zurich without getting in any danger zones.

Re: Ski Touring Course in January anyone?

I'm another snowboarder who recently moved to Switzerland looking to get into touring.

Any snowboard tourers / backcountry / freeriders out there??

If the shop you are talking about is Eiselin sport then they do cater for snowboarders on the course. I attended it one day last year and my girlfriend did the whole thing.

Re: Ski Touring Course in January anyone?

If anyone would like further info on local tours, happy to start another thread, or check out www.skitouren.ch Been out quite alot over the last month.

Hillseeker and I had an excellent time doing the Mutteristock (Waggital) today, less than an hour from ZH.

I think starting a new post with tour suggestions would be a great idea. But thanks for the website. Seems like a great source of info.

Re: Ski Touring Course in January anyone?

I would be interested in an EF skitour day sometime this winter. Unfortunately i don't have any free weekends until march but can get mondays off occasionally. Anyone else interested?

Re: Ski Touring Course in January anyone?

Have just commited myself to working most forthcoming mondays

But 28th Jan looks like staying free. Of course going ski touring with people you don't know is a little trickier than normal social events - fitness, safety issues being a bit more potentially problematic. PM me if your interested in a tour then assuming the weather/conditions look good.
