Road Cycling in Lucerne

I have just moved to Lucerne from Melbourne, Australia to live with my swiss partner who previously resided with me in Melbourne.

I am posting this to see if anyone in the area currently rides (with or without a group) and is interested with an extra rider or alternative someone could suggest some local routes/clubs that i could ride ( 2 -3 hr rides)/join. Meetup gave me no luck, however i have seen road cyclists riding around town. I am in the process of looking for work, so i have spare time on my hands.

Also, any guidance on layering and winter jersey's/jackets for the ch winter would be most helpful. Coming from Melbourne, our winters are quiet soft compared to here ( i understand dressing for a ride depends on the weather, however some guidance would be great).

I am an 27 years old, ride twice a week in Melbourne (for the last nine to twelve months)... average 30km/h - 32km/h when i ride 50km - 60km solo on flat road. i don't know whether this is a good indication of my riding ability l however its the best i can do!

Thanks for thanking the time to read.

Re: Road Cycling in Lucerne

welcome to Switzerland. I don't live in Lucerne but hopefully can give you a few tips.
At the moment as you will have experienced it is cold and the roads are covered in salt which will do your bike no good But when its mild its possible to get out for and hour or 2 in the middle of the day. If you head north from Lucerne towards sempach/hochdorf/zofigen there are nice rolling hills and possibilities for some nice loops. Once spring hits around the Rigi is a classic run. And as the weather warms up the hills around Lucerne offer great spins. I find my feet get very cold so warm socks would be my tip for clothes.
Best of luck settling in and in the spring I would be up for getting out for a spin.

Google some local clubs most will have training in a hall over the winter, and langlauf seems to be what lots bikers spend winter doing

Re: Road Cycling in Lucerne

Thank you for your response.

I will get cracking and have a look at some of thee areas.

If i give my bike a good enough clean after each ride, it should get me a bit more out of the components. I have contemplated buying a second 'winter bike', however I think may have to get myself working before I can afford that. Has anyone else had horrid experience with salt and road bikes?
