| | EF Mountain Bike Tour (Jura)
Any cyclists out there interested on doing a tour on Saturday 5th April.
I propose a tour Starting in La Chaux de Fonds and following the River Doubs along the French Border.
The full tour is 80km long but with very little climbing. There are many bail out points along the way where one can get the train back to the starting point or where ever they want to in Switzerland. Since its early in the season doing 30-50km of the tour might be fun and we can always see how we feel and continue further or take the train home.
The tour will take single trails along the river and pass some amazing scenery such as the waterfall at Saut de Doubs. It is listed in the book of the most beautiful bike tours in Switzerland.
I have purposly chosen a tour in the Jura region so that no matter where you are from in Switzerland it takes similar effort to get to (Unless you are in Ticino). So come on lets get cyclists from all corners of Switzerland together and go ride our bikes.

That will be a wonderful ride and although we would not be able to do the whole 80Km, sadly we will not be here. I know the Saut du Doubs at Villiers- le-Lac very well and it is one of my favorite rides. There is a very nice place called the Espace at Morteau where I stop for Lunch!!
The Tour de Romandie starts soon and I believe it goes up to Sagnelegier further up in the Jura although I do not know which route it takes.
Hope that you have a fab time and maybe someone will post some photos |

I don't have a "mountain" bike per se. The trike quite comfortable handles the (limestone?) gravel bikepaths around here (and carves up the hot-mix ).
cheers,

My apologies, I'm just back from OS on that weekend, so won't be good for anything (jetlagged).

Sounds like a great ride - I wish I could join you, but I have friends visiting that weekend (again), and unfortunately they're not cyclists (yes, I actually do have one or two non-biking friends, believe it or not).
Can't wait to hear how it goes - Have fun!

I'd be signing up for this if it was a month or so later. At this time of the year riding's a bit "make hay while the sun shines". So I'd rather say no, at this point, than yes and then bail out ride morning.
Hmmm, what I'm trying to say is great idea, but a bit early in the MTB season for making firm dates.
What's that Swiss saying about April weather? "April, April, mach was du willst".

Its more a case of if the weather is nice then this would be a cool tour for us to do. If I remember last year April was quite a nice month. My biking season started with a vengeance in April, I remember some lovely sunny tours around Wallensee that time last year.
I'm with you on the make hay while the sun shines, at least now if the sun shines there is definitely hay to make!

Due to weather and possible trail conditions I am giving 2 other options for a MTB meet up this Saturday.
Option 1: Meet in Ticino and do a tour down there. The weather should be sunny, and warm. The trails will be dry as they have had very little rain down there. I haven't picked out a tour yet, but I did a fun one down there over Easter so worst case scenario we could do that one again.
Option 2: Meet in Gurten and do some skills practice on the trail there. You can get train up and ride down all day long. Its a really fun trail and good for improving your skills. Weather should be dry and about 12-14 degrees.
Option 3: Go to Jura. Trails will probably be wet, we might get some rain, and it will probably be below 10 degrees!!!
I have posted an event for this meet up. If you are coming please register here.
