Alright, I read a lot of reviews, asked everyone I know and finally bit the bullet and bought a Tacx Vortex Smart T2180.
What is your opinion of the trainer? I'll be purchasing a trainer within the next year.

It just arrived 5 minutes ago and I haven't unboxed it. Will review when I have had a play. Oh the sweet anticipation!

Going for a "real" ride out in the cold and fog today first though.

Well done!
Re DC Rainmaker...hehe... have been following the guy for some time as I'm looking to find a way to fit a step/cadence sensor on my shoes to measure my bike cadence when I'm riding the spinning bike... Small world
Cheers

Re: Winter cycling alternatives - Bike Trainer versus a good Exercise Bike?

Everything I have read and heard about TACZ is right - its great product when its working, but its a pest to set up, no instructions, misleading labels on fittings for wheel size. The Tacx app for android needs a lot of work

They really need to invest in their software and documentation. Enough said...

BUT with Zwift as your app, paired with a Tacx trainer, its a joy to use!

I am also going to do a free trial with bkool, veloreality (vride), and kinomap.

For my winter cycling alternative. I ride on my Exercise Bike. It can also help me burn tons of calories and tone my legs.
