Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

Hi,

Anyone here going to gym Indigo in Zurich?
It is rather pricey(CHF 1799 per year) and I would like to hear some feedback from a member.
I know they provide free towels, water and coffee.
How is he environment? Comments about crowdedness, cleanliness and help from trainers?

Thanks

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

my friend had it (she moved abroad now) and she liked it. the people were nice and you get guidance whenever you want apparently. she thought it was well worth the money, equipment was good, instructors well trained etc.
I ve never tried it myself though, just what i heard from her (she does have quite high standards though)

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

I went to take a look at Indigo today, in readiness to drop a lot of money on annual memberships for my partner and I; and if honest, I didn't find it to be overly impressive. I have found gyms in London and New York to offer much more for less, but then this is Zurich. I could pick holes in all the selling points (free water + towels, coffee machine in club lounge, and english-speaking staff) without even touching on the sizeable cost, but we'll probably sign up for the following reasons (in no particular order):

- We're living in Schmeide Wiedikon, so it's only 2 stops on the tram (we have travel cards)
- The free water and towels are convenient, considering it's not a given at gyms (amazingly - for equipment cleanliness, if nothing else)
- I can wait for my partner in the club lounge (all 3 seats of it) to avoid looking like a gooseberry at the reception, where I can grab a coffee
- The staff speak English and we plan to do a few classes
- If we go 4 times per week (unrealistic, I know - but I can dream), it works out to CHF 10 per visit when you pay CHF 159 on the monthly plan
- The place looked empty today, and I understand some gyms here get seriously overcrowded

Where do you live, where do you work?
Do you plan to go
- before work
- during work
- after work
?

I would always choose a gym that is between my place of living and my work, or as close as you can get.
If you have to take a detour to get to it, you will have one more excuse not to do it.

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

I am a member at Silhouette since almost 4 years, and I am quite satisfied. I only go to classes - the teachers are great and atmosphere amazing. I live nearby, so I don't use showers there - and can't share my opinion on this point. As others said, it depends on what you are looking for, but if your expectations are not very high and restrictive - I can only recommend Silhouette

Is there English speaking environment?
They seem to have 50% off right now. It seems like good deal but I would like to be in international gym.
Thanks

Thank you for your message. I am flexible around the time I can go to gym and also I would like to be around young people

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

I just joined Silhouette (bellevue) for 1 month, and it's got everything you need for a workout.

I tend to try and take a break from work around 3pm and go, and it's pretty quiet. I went on saturday this week mid-day and it was also quiet. Wide age range that goes, I myself am early 20s.

Costs 200 CHF for a month pass, but I googled for offers and found a one-month pass for 99 CHF which was perfect for my needs. I think yearly passes are competitive also.

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

I've been with Indigo for about 6 months. It's a fantastic atmosphere and they have a lot of equipment that other gyms in Zurich don't have - kettle bells, squat rack, equalizer bars (functional fitness equipment). Everyone is really nice and the staff tries to remember everyone's names- not a huge selling point but really nice to feel at home there. Since they are almost at max capacity it is getting very busy during the weekdays but weekends are dead and I expect the "new year's resolution crowd" to stop coming in March or when the nice weather hits. I don't normally take the classes but friends have told me they are really great! I used to go to aktiv fitness and let's just say the free towels, water, Molton Brown toilettries and a shower with an actual door are worth every penny!

Re: Indigo Fitness Zürich (Selnau)

Wondering what everyone's opinion is of Indigo - still positive? And one question on the showers, are these private showers or are they shared?
