Basel Stadt Hash House Harriers Run #144

Event: Basel Stadt Hash House Harriers Run #144
When: Sunday, November 12th 2006 @11:00
Where: Untere Rebgasse 10, Basel
Map: http://tinyurl.com/hcfkp

Details: Take tram 8 to Claraplatz, leaves from Basel SBB every 8 minutes. Meet at hare's hutch, Untere Rebgasse 10. Ring doorbell "Steven". This will be an A to A run.

Do note the day (Sunday) and earlier-than-usual start time. After the run we will move on to a nearby restaurant (known as the On-Inn) for refreshments.

You will need jogging gear for the run and perhaps a change of clothes for after. Bags may be left at Hare’s Hutch.

Normally we provide a drinks stop during the run plus refreshments at the end before we head to the restaurant.

Cost: We normally take a small fee - about SFr5 - (known as "Hash Cash") for the club funds and to reimburse the hares for the cost of providing flour and drinks. Virgin runners do not pay anything. You pay for your own meal at the restaurant.

For more info, check the BSH3 website: - http://basel.harrier.eu.org

What is Hashing? The Hash House Harriers is a running/drinking/social club which was started by bored expatriates in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1938. ("Hash House" is the nickname of the restaurant/bar to which they retired for food and beer after a run).

Hashing is based on the English schoolboy game of "Hare and Hounds"; a Hash is a non-competitive cross-country run set by one or more runners called hares. The hares run out in advance of the other runners (the pack of hounds), and set a course marked by white flour.

We welcome people of all running ability from "none at all" to top marathon runners. If you are not a runner you are welcome to stroll along.

We endeavour to make our trails child and pushchair friendly making for an ideal family day out.

We get people from all walks of life attending and it is a great way to make a few friends – especially if you are new to the area.

For more general info about Hashing check this article.

Nick
