Skiing together (ZH,SZ)

Hi,

I am residing in Wollerau and would like to go skiing quite regular this winter. Flumserberg, Hoch-Ybrig and as well Flims/Laax would be some close-by options. Is anyone interested in joinign me?

Best,
David

It probably would help if you had written what standard you ski at and whether you would want to go at weekends or in the week too.

I am advanced and usually prefer week-ends. If there`s great powder a weekday is welcome

Why dont you sign up for the Zurich International Ski Club... which runs through January at Flumserberg.

Looking to hit the slopes tomorrow somewhere (thinking Flumserberg but open to anything I can get to by train in less than 2 hours). Anyone interested in joining me?
BTW... 39 year old female advanced skier (but happy to ski the intermediate runs and duck off the side for powder). Mom to three. Hubby can't get off work tomorrow and kids are at school but I hear there is powder to be found!

Looking at the weather forecast, any possibility of going Friday instead? Flumserberg not pleasant when winds are up and visibility low. Davos had great snow last week - OH had a health and safety avalanche course, 15+ yr old spent day skiing, and if I could have replaced her mid-term mood this evening with the post-ski endorphins I would patent the process!

Re: Skiing together (ZH,SZ)

Heading to Pizol with the family tomorrow and back to Flumserberg on Sunday with the family again. Flumserberg was amazing today! Visibility was poor at the top but a bit lower down was okay. The powder made up for any complaints I had about visibility. (Of course, it was my first real powder day in about 5 years so I couldn't find much to complain about!)
Feel free to send a PM if you want to try to connect on the slopes.

Re: Skiing together (ZH,SZ)

hi guys,

I plan to be in Engelberg coming Friday morning till Sunday eve, by myself, looking to ski with a group. Any tips?

Open to go skiing with a group or a class. I am a good skier, although not born on a mountain and spend way too much time in offices! Have potentially a freeride day organized on Saturday with a mountainguide, will learn more on Friday. Open to your suggestions.

Looking forward to connect!

Thanks

Jerome

Ah! We'll be in Engelberg on Sunday but are doing the non-ski thing that day for a change (glacier bridge, sledging, tubing, etc.). Booking with a mountain guide has always worked for me in the past. Especially if you do it early Saturday morning. You may get lucky and meet others that morning to ski with. A lesson is another option. Group lessons are great ways to meet people who ski at your level and improve your skills too! Wish I could join you! Have fun though!

Unless something changes in the next few days, I wouldn't waste my money on a guide this weekend in Engelberg. Freeriding conditions aren't so hot at the moment and the snow is pretty wind affected up high and frozen, tracked out crud everywhere else. Unless you are willing to put in the effort and skin to something untouched, a guide would be better served at a different moment. On piste should be decent if the crowds stay away.

If you do venture off-piste, watch out for crevasses. A teenager spent 6 hours wedged in a crevasse (16 meters down) on the Steinberg yesterday before he could be extracted.
