Re: Prenatal fitness in Zurich
Do you want mild, approved-during-pregnancy workouts or do you want birth preparation? It's not clear from your post which you are looking for.
Soft exercise routines for pregnancy are called Schwangerschaftsgymnastik if that's what you're after.
If the latter, it's called a Geburtsvorbereitungskurs and every hospital offers them - usually check the website for details. They tend to run for about 6 evening sessions, or sometimes one weekend, and cost a few hundred francs (only partially reimbursed by standard insurance). Your partner will normally be invited to join you for one or two of the sessions but most of them will be women-only.
For whatever it's worth, one of the midwives who helped me in hospital told me she considers these courses pretty unnecessary. She said people take them mostly in order to calm their own anxieties, and that's fine, but that in practical terms there is no need to have learned or practiced anything in advance. Your body knows most of it already and the midwives can coach you on the rest as it's happening. I wound up having a primary C-section so didn't get to test her advice, but that's what she said.
Guess what I'm saying is, if you can't find a course that's in your language or suits your schedule, don't sweat it too much. Good luck!
