sledging not too far from Lausanne ?

Does anyone have any tips on locations for sledging with easy access and a bit local to Lausanne for me and young kids (2 and 3)?? I know les diablerets, leysin and Verbier, but they are a bit of a drive...

Cheers

Felix

Well, the trouble is that you need some snow to make it feasible - and even at Les Diablerets there isn't enough snow ATM.

That being said Chalet-à-Gobet is the closest kids slope I know of, further away have a look at Les Paccots. But you'll probably need to go even higher up/further away to find decent snow.

Re: sledging not too far from Lausanne ?

Two areas in the Jura close to Lausanne- Les Rasses, but the road from Yverdon is full of switch-backs, so not for you if you are a nervous driver- or on the French side, Métabief, with excellent road from Lausanne (follow signs for Pontarlier-Besançon before Yverdon- both about 40 mins from Lausanne.

But- there is NO SNOW at the moment- grrrrrrrrrrr

Both resorts also have downhill skiing and xcountry btw- restaurants, hire, etc. And of course with Métabief, you can go shopping at InterMarché or Atac in Jougne on return. Atac is actually opened on Sunday mornings.

No.18 on the map seems to suggest so.

Re: sledging not too far from Lausanne ?

Since last post, it has not stopped snowing in the Jura, including Métabief and Les Rasses! A couple of feet since then (about 45 cm) and still snowing.

For sledging, we simply go to Chalet a Gobet, up Lausanne. Great for kids! It's usua packed on weekends.

I was at Villars today and there was tons of snow.. Would imagine Les Diablerets is good too.
