Re: Motorbike trips from BL

My preferred route for a short ride is south through Flüh and then continue south to St Ursanne and maybe St Hippolyte. I love rolling through the Jura

Then again, I'm also a fan of exploring the roads in the Vosges. There are too many for me be familiar with them, so I just meander around and take whatever interesting road catches my eye. I had a really nice ride last fall at peak colors:

Re: Motorbike trips from BL

@DantesDame: that road looks fun! And what beautiful colors!
@Tassadar: I've got mixed feelings about passes. They are great fun IF there is not a lot of traffic and IF the weather conditions are favourable. If I have to slow down every 500m and wait for a spot to overtake without risking my life while at the same time freezing my bum then thanks but no, thanks.
@Ardennes: there are passes around here that are not as extreme as those in the Alps. However I'm not a big fun of passes in general (see above).
If I have one or two hours to spend I'd rather go up the Gempen or to Jura

Re: Motorbike trips from BL

I've done a number of "day rides" and posted them on my website. I don't have them separated by day vs multiday rides, but the descriptions can give you an idea of the length of time spent in the saddle

I also try to put maps on the pages, so perhaps some of you will be inspired to explore some new areas If the husband doesn't insist on a hike this Saturday (and the forecast holds true), I'm going to try to get out on the bike and go....somewhere

Re: Motorbike trips from BL

Having very limited time available makes me divide my rides in one-hour vs multi-hour
Black forest is always top of my list, but need at least 3 or 4 hours to make the ride worth the effort.

Re: Motorbike trips from BL

Hi Fellow riders
I'm new to the site and new to Switzerland.
I rode my bike over from the UK this weekend so now have it here with me and would love to take a ride out on a weekend, or in the evenings when the weather and light improve.
I've done a lot of touring in my time; Istanbul and back, North Africa and many places round Europe and I'm up for short rides, long days or multi-days (basically any excuse to get out on the bike).
Do any of you meet up during the week to kick tyres and talk biker b@!!@x. Again I'm up for that too.
I look forward to anything two wheel based.
Let me know

Paul

Re: Motorbike trips from BL

If we were only a little more into springtime I'd suggest we all meet and drive somewhere to have a chat and get to know each other. Due to the current not-so-friendly weather we might skip the driving part and meet somewhere near here. Any proposal?

Triumph Street Triple, 675 cc

I don't see the point in getting a heavier bike for these glorious mountains.

I put a few videos up on YouTube:

Mostly 940-1000cc sportbikes, one with a sidecar, though I also have an XV250 that I keep in Trieste for going to the beach.

Sounds interesting to me!

We should plan to do a short lunch ride later this month, with a hopefully warmer and drier day.

Or we could just do a meet n greet sans bikes beforehand

My husband and I each have a BMW F800GS (mine is the GSA). We got the bigger bikes because we like to do long distance touring.
