Quick test:
(Totally random choice, no time for more but you are welcome also to try add more) Endura BaaBaa Merino Langarm-Unterhemd AW15 - CHF 66.50
GBP 37.99
even with VAT the price would be 56.34. They must be using some nasty pricing algorithm on top of already nasty approach towards VAT. Designed to rip you and me off.
I add one more thing - forget about splitting order into multiple packets that may use benefits of import tax free brackets. They not only won't do it but will offend you by suggesting that it is illegal practice (as if those benefits haven't been there for freaking reason). Rubbish. My opinion.

and if you change the language from German to English and the currency from CHF to GBP on CRC it becomes even cheap. | | | | | Actually Bikester are not Swiss. As someone else mentioned they are German owned (I think - at least not Swiss) and a clone of Fahrrad.de. They ship from Slovakia (I think) meaning their shipping times are relatively long and the tracking number they give you doesn't work for at least 2 days after shipping.
Prices are mostly good but their customer service is very poor as I found out when they managed to give me a duplicate of someone else's shipping number leading me to think their shipment had been sent to the wrong address.

Checked a couple of components and they are cheaper when switched to CH e.g. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/c...-/rp-prod84857 228 GBP / 295 CHF. But will have to be more careful in the future!

Personally, I've had nothing but great experience in dealing with bike24.de
Fast shipping, no MwSt, and great customer service, especially with their FB team.

So far, for majority of my orders I found those very good: www.bike-discount.de - very good prices, very fast shipping (sometimes order on Mon - get it on Fri or even Thu), since they ship with DHL - no admin fees, and VAT can be paid by card/online in case you were not at home when delivery guy comes www.bike-components.de - also very good prices, have some rare to find items, same shipment by DHL with the same benefits (but a tad slower) www.bike24.com - slow and sometimes more expensive if you compare to those above, but has a very broad range - more or less anything you come with, which is allowed to ship online or outside Germany (i.e. Specialized stuff - they can not send it to CH)
bikster.ch - maybe I was looking on some unique items, but anything I was looking for was more expensive than elsewhere (considering it is not really Swiss). Some items (i.e. Garmin Edge 1000) are more expensive even if you compare to local dealers like Galaxus/Digitec.

Dotti cycles Morges. Prices seem ok by swiss standards and english speaking manager, Christoff very helpful, always chucks in something free and reduces prices a little, but he is on holiday from saturday for 10 days, store is shut,( he is just at home) and because i ordered another bike from him, he will come to the shop monday to help me set it up. Pretty impressed with that service! you can't beat personal service

Ende up buying at bikester.ch, but confirm their "same day shipping" if you order by 16:00, is a bit misleading i) I have never gotten the shipping email until the next day ii) they must bulk ship from somewhere far away (someone mentioned SK) before the packages hit CH Post because the tracking number stays unrecognised for 24-48 hours.

Revisiting this one, as I'm shopping for a bicycle for my older boy.
Any suggestions that are more recent? Thank you very much for sharing! |

If you take bike a bit more seriously, there's velomarkt.ch and https://traildevils.ch/Market where you may find really cool used bikes at the price of an average new bike.

Hi defCon3
it's been mentioned before, but probably better value in CH with a used bike. https://velomarkt.ch/veloboerse/genf or tutti.ch ( ricardo.ch ?? )
You can then sell on the bike, without financial stress, when son gets older, or would like to swap MTB / road / downhill ....
Unfortunately with covid-19, the bike bourses have all been cancelled.
Remember, be careful with online ordering from abroad, with CH MwSt regulations. ( many threads about allowances )
Good luck searching.

Hmmm, Argon GLF is an interesting bike, as is the Cotic, I had to look both of them up on the interweb !! Both are hardtail, is not a slightly more modern fully a more softer ride ? And probably faster on the descents ?
Slightly modern, thinking, carbon or formed allu frame.
But whatever, with sensible prices on velomarkt, you can always trade them on. Enjoy the current warm, dry spell with superb autumn colours, just keep off the slippery leaf patches !!!

I already ride a Nicolai ION ST with full 200mm of rear travel. Albeit the ride is not soft at all and it requires walking or riding a lift to get to the top of a hill. Hardtails are great to train and to avoid complacency on descents = never seat. Since the forest is full of mud even if there's no rain, I hope the sun comes out to warm a bit next Saturday

Nearly 2kg lighter, to begin with. |

This time I have used a couple of Swiss sites with exceptional service and delivery times, bros.ch with physical store in Uster and bikeimport.ch (next day delivery for Chf7.95), their prices are mostly within a couple of Chuffs of the German stores.
