Is there anybody who can share some experience on stand-up paddeling on Lake Zurich (starting from Seefeld specifically)? It might sound odd to ask this End of November, but I heard you can do it also in Winter with Dry suit (or however this is called). But I could also wait for spring time.
Any tips how to start this without making myself a complete idiot in front of all the crowds at the Lake in Seefeld? I dont have a car, which means I would need a board that I can carry walking from my home (near the lake), is that feasible or is the stuff to heavy?
What do you wear? Just swimming suit and shirt? Shoes?
SUP boards are crazy expensive... find somewhere that you can rent them (lakeside by the hour) and try it out a few times to see if you like it first. They are definitely too big to carry very far.
Wait until summer and wear a swim suit and life jacket no shoes.
I have a SUP and in case you have never seen one from up close: they are huge. Much bigger than a surf board and even bigger than a beginners windsurf board. Mine is over ten foot... and I think that's unpractical to carry around in Seefeld (but probably something a hipster might do...). Some people swear by the new inflatable type as you can carry it around in a backpack and I see the point, but for me personally does a board need to be a board. A good one with paddle will cost at least 1000 CHF... so better rent and try it out before you invest into a hobby you don't enjoy in the end.
