What to do over Christmas/New Year?

Happen to be stuck here after work cancelled my leave so no chance of going back home and am miserably stuck here and being new to the city don't know where would be best to go? I love the mountains - would Interlaken be the closest? Rigi? I've never been skiing so that's not really an option at least over the festive period. Don't want the stress of having to buy equipment and stuff...

Will be so bored!

Re: What to do over Christmas/New Year?

I can warmly recommend the Gasthof Pferdapfel on the slopes of Mischtberg. Hop on the S19 at Zurich HB and connect to the bus at Schissikon - the gasthof is only ten or fifteen minutes up the hill.

The proprietor is a very friendly chap and you'll be offered all kinds of delicious local delicacies during your stay. Stay clear of the schnapps, though - it's a strong flavoured yellow liquid, the taste of which will take much too long to leave your palate.

There are almost certainly still vacancies for the holiday period. Give Bruno a call on 033 821 64 54 and ask for the Imboden Spezial.

Have fun!
