Squash in Zurich: Costs?

Hi Guys,
I'm headed to Zurich starting June 7th and am pumped to go. I've been a collegiate squash player here in the US and am really looking to keep up my squash game while I am in Zurich. I was wondering if people knew what the good places to play are and how expensive they are. I am an incoming Visiting Student at ETH and my money is pretty short, so the cheapest options would be best. I've noticed the Grasshopper Club Zurich is the most famous option and I've heard Nicki Mueller trains there. But, if anybody is familiar with a deal for ETH students at one of these Squash clubs, I'd really appreciate it!!

Cheers,
Varun

Where abouts? Is there a website? Can I prebook online or do I have to call?

here, but only because it is close to my office.

squash is popular here so there are many places, and certainly closer to zurich. i know oberrieden, gattikon and thalwil also have courts.

Re: Squash in Zurich: Costs?

Yes that's what I saw on that very same link. Except I'm confused why it has in bold above it 'Free Game'. I don't speak German yet so I've been using Google Translate. Is it 10 CHF for a course/per person/ per hour, meaning that I have to take a course, that I can just play a free game like the bold says? I'm thinking of emailing the Grasshopper club to get an idea of what is the correct rate, since I don't necessarily need to take a course in how to play squash.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. I've checked the Grasshoppers website: it's 10 fr an hour but only from Tuesday to Thursday 12.15-14.00.

Schlieren might be another option for you. It's 20 fr/45min for students.

Re: Squash in Zurich: Costs?

I eventually figured out after living here for years that the most cost effective way to play a lot of squash is to join a club. It also enables one to play against a bigger variety of opponents.

At the clubs in Bern and Biel unlimited memberships are very reasonable.

I guess they would more than likely be higher around Zürich but still better value for money than renting a court every time one wishes to play.

Re: Squash in Zurich: Costs?

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I'm trying to understand the membership deal as a student at GC club. This the website I found (http://www.gc-squash.ch/club/anmeldu...bei-gc-squash/). Anybody who speaks german able to give me an idea on how much a student would pay annually and if there are other fees on top of the annual membership? Google translate is doing a pretty poor job of translating the text

There's a one time fee of 600 Fr. for joining the club and an additional 20 Fr. for a key or badge.

The yearly fee for students is 500 Fr, but only if you are under 25 years old, if you're older I guess you'd have to pay the regular fee for active members of 980 Fr. per year.

Btw: If someone still looking for cheap squash court.
Try ZüriFit AG (https://zuerifit.ch/angebot/squash/). Its a little outside of town (Wollishofen) but only costs CHF 16.-/60min. during the day.
