Park run - fancy setting something up

Is there anyone interested helping set up Park Run - 5K run every Saturday in the Zurich area. I have no affiliation to Park run but it would be good to have this every Saturday http://www.parkrun.com/about/start-your-own-event
** Just seen that they aren't accepting any more countries at present - dam **

Runners in the Geneva area may like to know that parkrun has arrived in neighbouring France!

It's a small world, I was about to post this... Every Saturday at 9 by the lake (in Divonne). Completely free, all levels welcome with a chat over coffee and croissants afterwards. We're lucky to have one so close, as there are only about 8 Park runs in France at the moment, and none in Switzerland, as mentioned earlier.

I'll be going along to give this a try soonish, following my return to road racing at the Lausanne 10k a few weeks ago.

This pops up quite frequently in my Facebook feed. Never been but might interest those on this thread.

I didn't realise there were so few of them in France. A friend of mine is very heavily involved with the one in Fontainebleau and posts pictures of it every week and I get the impression that it's very popular in France do I'm surprised there aren't more of them.

Re: Park run - fancy setting something up

I just looked at their website and I can't work out why it can't be organised in Switzerland. It's free and run by volunteers and their founder even says:

Quote:
Paul’s firm belief is that parkrun’s simple concept should – and really can – exist in every town in the world. So no-one should ever have to pay to go running in their community regularly, safely and for fun.
Can't someone just "start" an event without having to go through the rigmarole of waiting for their country to pop up in the park run menu of countries?

The clique-i-ness seems to fly in the face of their concept.

Of course you are quite right. The Park Run thing is a kind of brand with all the websites identical and cute features like age corrected times to see who "won". They have special T-shirts depending on how many you completed, err wow .
