Road bikes in Zurich area

Hello, folks! I am a foreign student coming to Zurich in a few days to start Master studies. I am anticipating buying my first road bike here in Zurich and start training for PBP-2019 . I have taken up marathons recently (200 km ride was so far the longest). I would really appreciate any advice where to buy and what exactly to buy (I am a rather short female, 5'1 tall and 29 1/2 legs). As this is going to be my first road bike and I am a Scholarship student my budget is as low as possible but reasonable. I am aware of velomarkte.ch and scrutinising their web page from time to time.

Re: Road bikes in Zurich area

I went to this place in Zurich:
http://www.the-bike-store.ch/

I walked in, said that I wanted a bike and spent the next hour and a half finding something that worked well for me, fits well, and was within my budget. They gave me a discount to take the bike back under the budget I was looking for. I have been very pleased with it so far!

Are you looking exclusively for a 'modern' bike, or might you be interested in a 1990's Peugeot 'Richard Virenque' Team Festina Replica? Just like this one (for reference only).

Edit: just checked the frame size, which at 53cm (C-T) might be a bit too big for you.

Re: Road bikes in Zurich area

If new bikes are not out of question you could look around here as well:

http://www.bikester.ch/
https://www.rosebikes.de/

In particular, friends said good things about Rose's own branded road bikes:

https://www.rosebikes.de/produkte/fa...rennrad/damen/

In both cases you're ordering from Germany, but don't have to care about tax differences and customs, everything is arranged by the company and you pay only the price you see on the web page.

Thank you all, guys! Found a nice road bike.

And since the autumn is here, do you know any good places to buy long-sleeve jerseys, waterproof and windproof jackets for cycling? Maybe, some second-hand will also be ok, since new stuff are quite expensive.

Thanks a lot for this advice! Got a bike from them with 20% discount!

Re: Road bikes in Zurich area

The Transa shop at Josefstrasse 59 has a lot of discounted sportswear. They mark some items as much as 70% off, so it's worth going there to check.
