Pilates Reformer @ Home

Hi - has anyone bought a reformer to use at home ? Where did you get it? I want to see some of these in store before making the big purchase but I am struggling to find them anywhere. Happy to also look in Germany.

Re: Pilates Reformer @ Home

I have been looking around as I'll probably reach the point where I'll get my own reformer. I have been looking at pilates.com and pilates.de for makes and models.

They're not cheap, but then why skimp on ones longevity?

Why don't you speak to your pilates studio or instructor? (Assuming you have one)

I would also check Ricardo if you're not opposed to a used reformer.

Re: Pilates Reformer @ Home

Thanks Traubert. I am glad I am not the only one finding it a pain to pick one! The Allegro and Align reformers were recommended to me (my teacher uses a wooden studio one which is 5K, so a bit expensive...) but said these 2 were good.

Have you seen or used the Allegro ones that Pilates.de is selling ? My challenge is not the price but more testing one or at least seeing it and getting a sense for the stability, tension and smoothness of the tracks.

I have tried several reformers, contemporary and classical and I love the classical reformer. All of the Balanced Body reformers, except for the Contrology reformer are contemporary. I would love to just go straight for a classic Contrology reformer.

I work on a Classical reformer from Pilates Scandinavia

and have become so used to it that no contemporary version will do for me. Ideally I would like the same reformer that I am taught on.

There is a studio in Zug called California Pilates that has Allegras. Book a reformer class there and test the equipment.
