The motor comes with a crank, chain wheel and pedal arms. I chose 46 teeth for the chain wheel which replaced the three chain wheel /Shimano shifter. This was much easier than trying to retain the shifting set which is technically possible.
Max speed depends on the hill! I have set the control mechanism to stop the assistance at the legal max of 25kmh, but there is a throttle over-ride

Increasing the amount of help one receives uses up the battery charge noticeably quicker, but charging on descents seems to function really well. I am less interested in speed than in help getting up the hills
Legal max without registration is a 500Watt motor, but Bafang also sell 750W and now 1000W versions.
I have found the side mirror to be a total plus -why are they not standard on all bikes?
Now I want to see how the reliability of the Bafang motor compares with my wife's Saxonette and our son's flyer - mine is definitely the more fun to ride.
