Crossfit in Switzerland

Hello everyone,

Just wondering on the general cost of crossfit box's in Switzerland....we are busy putting our spreadsheets of possible expenses together and crossfit is a must for my OH. We have done some googling but want to get an idea from those who do crossfit...

Re: Crossfit in Switzerland

Oh, dear. Crossfit is a "must"? The thing is, when moving countries, is that one's needs and wants change, as new possibilities open up. I'm not speaking against Crossfit, only wanting to say that being open for the new ways of doing things, for what there is Here, helps one to be much happier and less likely to pine for what used to be There.

In a slightly different area, a totally sold, all-out gym workout friend from another country said, once he'd got settled here: "Why would I want to pay for membership, the way I used to, when there's something so much better here, for free?"

There may be wonderful crossfit facilities here and your OH may be happy. Good. I'd just like to put in a gentle whisper in favour of coming here with an attitude of readiness to embrace the amazing sporting opportunities in Switzerland.

Re: Crossfit in Switzerland

Crossfit is alive and well here in the Suisse Romande. I know because the Crossfit team from Genève used to win our dragon boat races every year. They were like robot people.

Here's the page from the Lausanne Crossfit website that speaks to fees: https://www.crossfit-lausanne.ch/tarifs/

Just google Crossfit and then whatever city you are moving to and you are sure to find something.

If you have googled all of your local crossfit places and seen the price lists then what further info can people who train there give you? The prices are the prices and the only additional costs will be training clothing etc.

Stop being daft, there is a lot of Crossfit in Switzerland and for some people it IS their health regime and preferred way of training no matter where they are in the world. I am sure the OP is perfectly capable as a grown adult of identifying other sports should they desire.

Re: Crossfit in Switzerland

Here is where I go and what I pay.. You can be pretty sure that all of the others will be same - give or take the price of a beer or two.

It's not really something you shop for based on price

It's definitely alive and well, i'm on my way right now to knock myself silly over my lunch break.

Thanks for this. It keeps my OH sane, so he needs to do it (he has been sitting around for a few days with an injury and he is exercise hangry if that makes sense) so it's a non negotiable in our books.

Re: Crossfit in Switzerland

You might also consider this if you are ok with not being locked to a single place: their model is that you can book classes with various service providers and pay e.g. monthly, non-binding. They are also recognized by some Swiss health insurance companies (e.g. Swica), who reimburse up to 90% of the total cost per year: that is covered by the additional insurance, for which you have to pay extra premiums, and it's also covering other gyms as well.

They definitely were not there this year because we had a much better outcome! Seriously, they were like machines. No one could compete with them.
