Natural vitamins for children

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a multivitamin for the children which would have more natural ingredients. We don't want a syrup or tablets, if possible we prefer chewable vitamins like bonbons. I will appreciate if someone can advise a good vitamin. Thanks a lot

Why? Sorry, if it not due to any illness, why would they need to take vitamins?

Natural vitamins: fruit, vegetables :)

I also don’t understand why people want to give healthy people vitamins. They are completely unregulated, so they can put any old crap in there. What we eat and drink should be more than sufficient to provide you everything you need.

Have a chat with your pediatrician if you feel your children have lack of whatever, and if so she'll know what to feed and where to get.

wow... a lot flack for that question!

Kids do need vitamin D in the winter apparently, not getting it all from sun exposure, and even less from diet...

Visit your local pharmacy for kids vitamin gummies here in this country or if you're feeling nostalgic and want to carry on that great british tradition go for haliborange... https://www.haliborange.com/products#multivitamins

Bit more of a faff to get them shipped here (Britshop are you reading this?) but my kids swear by them, and never did me any harm growing up.

Maybe there's a tendency to be a bit quick to judge the motives of the OP. If there is a fussy eater in the family, I can imagine parents can get to their wits end trying to nourish them when they won't eat anything, for example. You want the best for your child but they just ain't playing along... :msnsarcastic:

OP - I think your first stop should be the child's doctor and get them to firstly check whether they really are deficient in any vitamins or minerals and then let them recommend supplements as necessary.

There is no Vitamin C in Flugabwehrkanone.

Better to give them supplements than have this happen.

"Experts are warning about the risks of extreme fussy eating after a teenager developed permanent sight loss after living on a diet of chips and crisps.

Eye doctors in Bristol cared for the 17-year-old after his vision had deteriorated to the point of blindness.

Since leaving primary school, the teen had been eating only French fries, Pringles and white bread, as well as an occasional slice of ham or a sausage.

Tests revealed he had severe vitamin deficiencies and malnutrition damage."

Only if you keep them locked up all day. They really only need a couple of hours of daylight per day, so just make sure they play outside enough, or better yet, send them to the mountains to ski once a week or so, like many schools will anyway/

Kids tend to wear jackets, neck warmers, googles and helmets so they don't actually tend to get much UV exposure when skiing.

But yes, they ought to be out more than a lot are.

Funny thing. Sending the slum kids from London for two weeks into the countryside each year, during the 1920s and 1930s, massively reduced the cases of rickets.

You really don't need much sun exposure.

For me, it's the word "natural" which triggers my suspicious response. There is absolutely no difference between a vitamin D molecule that is put together atom by atom, or made in a test-tube or vessel reactor, and a vitamin D molecule made by the UV interaction with the skin.

I don't know if I would go as far as saying completely unregulated. Surely there are regulations, guidelines and maximum permitted quantities per tablet/box etc. Yes you can take the whole packet and then you've taken too much, but you can do that with anything, food, even over the counter medication.

The active ingredients are not regulated. Many supplements fall short of the dosage they purport to contain, unless they’re medically prescribed.

.

I thought it was giving kids cod liver oil in the 1950s but I digress.

What is important to note is that cases are on the increase (in the U.K.) Fortnite and Minecraft probably have something to do with it, as do over-cautious parents who are over-zealous with the sun-screen and other sun protection.

Additionally, children (in the U.K.) no longer get free milk at school (milk being another source of vitamin D).

your body takes up only what it needs. Anything more is pissed out. Its just panic making by these big phamacy companies trying to rip off the unknowing consumer.

Rubbish. Eat too much vitamin A, and you'll die, for example.

As I said. Your body takes what it wants and the effort to get rid of the surplus ( on the kidneys etc ) is what does the damage and can kill!

So worldwide no regulation, I assume that means, since Amazon deliver worldwide.
