Running around Lake Zug

So with marathons being cancelled all over the place I find myself "trained up" for my first marathon (Paris) but it's not happeneing so I planned to run around Lake Zug... it's apparently about 25 miles ... I can add on another 1.2

But... I know there is a section between Arth and Oberwil where there are no pavements... anyone know a suitable route? I ran that section once and it was really unsafe as a runner on the road with lots of blind curves.

Yes I checked GMaps but it's not detailed enough...
Yes I checked Garmin but the running routes are "polluted" by cyclists who don't suffer with lack of safe running on pavements...

Starting point is in Zug... don't care what direction around the lake but anticlockwise feels normal. If anyone has a gpx/tcx or anything I'd appreciate it, or just know a nice way without too many hills to get from Arth back to Zug?

Thx

Re: Running around Lake Zug

It's actually only the section between Arth and Walchwil, about 1.5km and unfortunately, unless you go on the mountain, you can't avoid it. I do see people walking, running and roller blading that section, but agree that it looks quite precarious.

Re: Running around Lake Zug

Im also going to try this as a training run. Ive cycled this clockwise many times. Are runners actually allowed allowed on the cycle path and roads?
I recall there is a small section where the cycle path stops very briefly 200metres or so around the turn and then reappears. id recommend the clockwise route following the cycle path

Re: Running around Lake Zug

I had my first 42km registered in Vienna, also canceled.
On the same date as the Vienna Marathon me and a friend are planning to run around Zugersee. 39km around the lake plus 3 extra kilometres. As advised above there is a small patch when you are on the road. Reflective jacket and you should be ok. If this doesnít work for you, you need to do more planing. Or maybe Zug-Cham-Immensee-Arth- and back.
Little more boring run will be Zug-Cham-Sins-then along the river towards Bremgarten.
Iím also happy to hear other routes.
