What do you think about social dancing during corona crisis

This issue has really been on my mind, especially now that masks are compulsory on public transport.

What really concerns me is that the social dancing events and classes are still allowed and from what I heard from the people who attend them, nobody is wearing masks during these events and of course, due to the nature of social dancing, no one's keeping 2m distance.

I guess you can also say the same about clubs in general...

What do you think about this issue?

I understand the size of classes is strictly limited and they have to record the identities of all those taking part so as to be able to trace back any spreading that may have taken place.

I do social dancing myself and it can be annoying as the limitations on attendance leads to people being turned away. But obviously the alternative would be far worse.

Just because nobody else is not wearing a mask doesnít mean you donít have to. It doesnít remove the chance you will catch the virus, but it just might send a signal to others.

I donít hesitate to tell others that I am at high risk X 3 and that I appreciate, or would appreciate, them wearing a mask too.

There is a Corona thread and two mask threads already. Do we need another one on distancing?

Yes we need one. But it should keep at least 1.5 to 2 forum posts distance to the other threads

I've stopped dancing for the meantime. I miss it but hard exercise in close proximity to multiple partners doesn't feel right at the moment. Also it's summer so I'm avoiding flinging my sweat all over the dance floor!

I think it's a mistake. We can't go back to 100% normalcy....not just yet. I'm also surprised that some people didn't learn anything.
Second wave is knocking on the door, it's already happening in other countries.

If you go to a social dancing class then you are asking for trouble and you are knowingly taking the inherent risk that dancing with someone brings as there is, in rwality, no social distancing possible when dancing closely to someone, touching and sweating and exerting yourself. All of this "taking the name to trace infections" BS means very little... by holding the classes they ARE putting people at avoidable risk, it's that simple.

I understand why they do it because it's their business and otherwise they will go broke, but it should be clear to anyone with half a brain that it's a bad idea.

It's a very exclusionary idea, very us and them. I like to keep non-dancing friends as well.

Oh yes, there have been countless living room solo dance parties. My poor husband and cat. I will use this one for Negroni Thirstday

Yes, this has nothing to do with social distancing, which I hope we continue to do forever cause it will also mean there will less viruses period, not covid, but less colds, less flu, less nasties in the general population.
Wouldn't it be nice if the better education people have received on how to stop the spread of germs, worked towards a reduction in all contagious diseases & viruses? Oh wait, I was just on an escalator where a man coughed over and over without covering his mouth & looked at me like I was crazy for staring him down.
