| | Winter 20/21 mountain resort plans.
Does anyone know what we can expect for this winter’s ski season. Mainly interested about Vaud, Valais and the Bernese Oberland. Neighbouring France would also be of interest.
Will the resorts be allowed to open? And if so what will be the rules.
I’m guessing masks will be required in queues and anywhere indoors, but not on the slopes.
Are their masks that can be easily put on and off when wearing a helmet?

I don't think anyone can answer that
But Zermatt for example published their rules - regarding the mask, they will accept an approved neck tube thingy that you can pull up over your face at the necessary times. https://www.20min.ch/video/diesen-sc...n-954237923866 | The following 2 users would like to thank newtoswitz for this useful post: | |

Was heavily reported in the press about a week ago. Basically some form of mask required in closed lifts and wherever distancing cannot be maintained (lift queues mainly). But seems they are accepting ski masks/cloth coverings as sufficient.
Most places appear to be offering season card guarantees - you get money back if the lifts are forced to shut. https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/alpine-...n-260169027112

Summer skiing went ahead as normal, Glaciers are starting yo open as we speak.
I have bought my annual pass & hope to ski for 100 days over the season, it will be business as normal on deserted slopes. The frightened sheep will stay at home.

I'm not sure about it being that quiet - I was up at Flumserberg for a late summer walk and the place was busy, mainly with older folks.
It seems to be the new way - like the Swiss don't let weather change their plans they just put on a coat, now they just wear a mask and get on with it.

It's open as usual. Every ski resorts is adopting safety rules (which are basically very similar).
I also wrote this article to help skiers to stay safe: https://my-mountains.ch/how-to-prote...n-ski-resorts/

It’s all going to shit again BASI just cancelled courses in France. I assume the Zermatt ones will go ahead especially now there is no quarantine.

No-one, but no-one, can predict what will happen- is the reality.
I am trying to be optimistic, and just booked a studio on the piste, ski in, ski out, for my 70th BD late Feb, in the 4 Vallées. Hoping grandkids can come from UK for half-term as always - will be really sad if they can't- ad not seen them since last Feb.

Interesting article from a previous post was removed as advertising (edit:now restored) but I think it's worth looking at, so I'm copying it here. how-to-protect-yourself-from-covid-19-in-ski-resorts

Excellent. But this time, I am very happy we have booked a week in a ski in/ski out - so no transport and can cook ourselves if weather not good enough to eat on terrasse in the sun.
