| | Romandie women's ski club 2020
Will we have some snow? I so hope we will.
Are there any women, all ages, intermediate to advanced- who would like to meet to ski if and when it comes. My local resorts are Les Rasses (St Croix, VD), La Robella (Buttes/NE) and Métabief/Mt d'Or (France, Doubs 25). To meet up during the week, including wednesday afternoon with or without kids. With possibility of trips further up in Romandie, Vaud Alps or Western Valais.
Xcountry too - with the same or a separate group.

Seriously, I totally get it - blokes skiing together do tend to get all testosterone-fueled, and it can create a dynamic that's less fun for the girls. Good idea, and I hope it takes off for you.

I'd have absolutely no problem with blokes joining- as long as they control said testosterone
I have skied mainly with men all my life, for all sorts of reasons. I am an advanced skier, but of more 'mature' years and with 2 replacement knees- so my Tortin/Pas de Chavanette bombing days are over. Cruise the reds is for me now- with plenty of stops. But I can help many intermediates improve their style and posture.

There are black slopes around here that are smoother than old reds.

Have you tried the two I mentionned above?
Tortin in Verbier, as well as Mont Fort and Plan du Fou, Pas de Chavanette in Portes de Soleil. These days are gone for me- and that is OK lol. Where is 'round here'?

Trips could include other Jura resorts on French side, and those close to Lausanne, like Villars, Les Diableret, Leysin, and Torgon for Portes du Soleil, where I am happy to guide to Chapelle and Châtel, Morgins.

I’ll do this in the coming years and some people say skiing is a no no some say it helps with the muscle strength.

All knees are different, and all repalcements too. 3 years since the first one, 2 since the second. The first one will always not be totally right- 50 years almost since a car accident- and a large pin put across that knee for several months to hold traction- but I feel I am ready now. Only skied a few times last year, partly due to poor winter.
But you are totally right- must spend next couple of months getting muscles strong, and keep working on keeping knee cap more mobile- Gi Gung really helps. Wish I could go swimming with physio fins- but not allowed at present/Covid.
But depending on your age and ability- you also have to adjust things in your mind, and expectations. Push, but not too far. As said above, happy with a few bumps and moguls, but not fields of them, and I can't carve very low. But this is OK with me- fast short turns and happy wide curves will do me for now. At 70, it's OK.

Hi Jackie, I am interested but I can only ski on blue or red and very slow. Due to my ski accident. And now I switch to snowboard. That I feel more comfortable. If you are interested too. I would love to join you.

How are you doing on your board? Have you tried yet, or will have lessons when snow comes?
I took up snowboarding at the age of 49, lol - sort of forced into it by my students at school inUK, where I run a skiclub and trips. Learnt at Snowdome, then spend the next few years mixing ski and snowboard. Not done it since my board and gear were stolen at Arosa- but I might even try it again this year. I can certainly help with stance and technique. lol.
Due to my age and size (tea pot style) I made quite an impression on the slopes- young people were massively friendly and encouraging.
So, see how it goes when snow comes. Still got my boots and old Burton board.

Since my ski accident in 2015 . I afraid now to go fast on skiing.so I decided to try snowboarding I have more confidence than skiing. I snowboard since 2017 .Im in intermediate level . But I can ski as well and very careful of it. I started to ski at 40 then accident at 42 . And started to snowboard at 44. Now I’m 47 . I buy magic pass every year and on the slope every weekend. But this winter I didn’t buy ski pass due to COVID. I don’t want to waste money. I’m not sure if the ski resorts will open 100% .

Hi Jackie. I’m thinking to create a ski/snowboard group +40 ( male/female) on FB. To find people to be with . Are you in ? . It’s will never work if there’s only 1 person signed in .

How about 2022? Anyone interested?
First meetup will be at Métabief-Mt d'Or when it opens. Snowboarders welcome too.
I have a friend who teaches xc skiing, so that would be a possibility too.
