Living in Visp

Hello Friends,

I'm looking into a job in Visp and wanted to find out what's life there like if i would rent a house in the city or close by.

I have a family with a 6 year old child.

Any feedback is welcome

Thank you
G.

It’s not a nice place and it’s definitely not a city. I’d either live in a village nearby or go a little further and live in Sierre or Sion.

(I don’t think you need 3 threads on this)

Why does everyone say that? I only pass through Visp while going to better places but still it does not look that bad?

I stayed a night there once and it seems a nice town. Just what is wrong with it?

Itís fairly ugly and there is nothing there! No decent shops of any kind unless you count Coop & Migros and thereís a H&M in Brig, but itís pretty poor! You either need to go for village life (prettier) or a small city/town in Sion or Sierre. I mean Visp and Brig arenít the worst places in the world, but far from the nicest either!

Re: Living in Visp

Well Visp is German speaking and Sion is French speaking so that is a big difference if you have a child who will attend a local school.

Yep. But I’m guessing kid speaks neither German or French, so it won’t matter which one they go to will it! Unless they have a preference! There are also international schools in the Crans Montana area which might be an option.

If German speaking school is wanted, they could live just over the language border near Sierre.

I wonder the same. Maybe it's the language...

Well the elementary school is called Primarschule Sepp Blatter... which I find awkward... schools (especially elementary ones) usually don't get named But apperently the former FIFA President went there and he turned out fine

Re: Living in Visp

One thing to bear in mind is that the only Gymnasium school in Oberwallis is in Brig. So if she learns German she’d need to go to Gymi in Brig. French I assume there is one in Sion not sure about elsewhere.

Edit: https://www.colleges-valaisans.ch/ec...valaisans.html 1 in Brig, 2 in Sion & 1 in Saint-Maurice
