The Bundesrat shutdown announcement of 18 December leaves individual cantons to decide whether ski areas are to be kept open.

Are cross country skiing tracks (langlauf loipe) included?

e.g. many of the German speaking cantons (ZH, AI, SG, SZ,ZG, LU, NW, OW, UR) have decided against skiing, does this include langlauf as well as alpine?

A good question- but I am pretty sure the answer is no. If you ski classical, no-one can stop you. If you are a skater, then not sure tracked pistes will be opened. I'd ask individual regions first.

Stays open apparently. See e.g. announcement from Studen, SZ in below link. SZ closes ski resorts as of Monday evening, but XC stays on.

Received this response from langlauf.ch:
"Langlauf ist weiterhin erlaubt. Bitte beachten Sie die Regel vor Ort.

Falls der Bundesrat etwas neues betreffend Loipen entscheiden sollte, werden wir auf Langlauf.ch informieren."

Basically it says that cross country skiing is allowed, refer to local rules. If the Federal Council changes its mind, information will be provided via langlauf.ch

The problem now is that it is getting warm and wet. Yesterday conditions in Studen / Einsiedeln still looked good.
