Where to Buy Ski Equipment

Hi,

I'm an experienced skier based in the Zürich area, rented equipment for many years, now looking to buy my own.

Looking for recommendations as to where to buy:

(1) Boots
  • In store only, as they must be properly fitted
  • Will travel within CH, if there is somewhere/someone highly recommended (may be make a day of it and go skiing as well if the resort is open!)

(2) Skis, Bindings, Skins, etc
  • Online or in store
  • Price and range more significant
Thanks for your help!

Regarding boots. It's best to buy close to where you normally ski, so if after you get them, you have fitting/pain issues, you can nip back in for alterations.

Skis - decide what you want and then google online for best price. Or end of season sales if you can wait.

Re: Where to Buy Ski Equipment

the STS Store (Sport Trend Shop) in Hinwil does a good service for everything. Also Stoeckli near Kloten often has good deals and a good service.
Otherwise Intersport in various locations.

Re: Where to Buy Ski Equipment

I generally order from Ebay Germany for the best prices & get them delivered to France.

I bought some skis 60% off on Christmas Day from www.easy-gliss.com by combining 2 offers. Dynastar Legend 106 length 184cm €303.42 including delivery.

I‘ve always found Stöckli shops good. If you‘re near to one they really help you out on an ongoing basis. I‘ve had boot repairs done for nothing.

In Thalwil, with parking and next to the train, so very convenient if you are this side of the lake. René the fitter speaks English.

I went in for a full fit, but they convinced me to try a semi-fit, with my profile the full fit would not be money well spent.

You can also rent and buy at the end of season if you like the boots.

This place is also great for kids season rental.

Decathlon or Ochsner Sport would be my choices. Ochsner Sport has better choice and service and although it's generally more expensive it also has a sale on at the moment so I would look there first.

I would say it makes more sense to get them where you live as you are not always going to be going back to the same resort. Few people always ski in the same place in Switzerland when so many resorts are the same distance away.
