Bikes in gondolas MTB in Switzerland

Hi, is it possible to transport your bike free of charge in gondolas ex Saas-Grund- Hohsaas using a bike transport bag?

If not would you have any suggestions for nice trails which you can access without paying additional tickets (just the SBB one)

Thanks a lot.

This is what googling "bike transport Saas Grund" brought up... (no, it's not free, in fact, it is the exception for it to be free on any form of public transport).

The same website offers the option of seeing the biking routes on the map, which should let you figure out where you can go for free.

Re: Bikes in gondolas MTB in Switzerland

The free option is to cycle up... but you won't do a lot of trails on a day like that...
I did it in Morzinne end of June when the lifts were still closed. I was happy it was only the first 2 days

That’s the price for human + bike (not just the bike, like buying a bike pass for the train). Pretty good value.

I'm afraid not, it's definitely an add-on price. It would have been helpful for them to make this clearer, e.g. by stating on the main ticket price page what the bike supplement is, they only mention dogs.

It says “Day pass incl bike transport” - if it was just for the bike, why would they say including bike transport?

Zermatt is good for MTB and bike pass includes you and your bike. Also dogs ride the lifts and gornergrat train for free in Zermatt.

I believe the 5.- CHF ticket is an add-on for a single trip (you still need a ticket for yourself), but the 40.-/45.-CHF day pass is for person + bike.

Where did you find the Day pass incl. bike transport? It doesn't show up on the page that I found. Now I understand why OP asked the question, it's not entirely clear. But I can say for certain that the 5 francs per ride shown on the bike transport page does not include you joining the bike, it is what you pay for the bike to join you in addition to the normal ticket price.
