Grand Massif or La Clusaz? France skiing 2021!

Passe sanitaire unlikely to be required this ski season, so I am looking at getting a season pass. Instead of trecking 3 hours return every Saturday to les Portes du Soleil I fully intend on going next door to France.

Which resort would you say is better, for a bit of off piste, some good runs for a decent skier:
La Clusaz or Grand Massif?
How would they compare to the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil?

I moved to Geneva last season and went every Saturday without a break. Apres ski is not important at all for me, I only go to ski. I used to live in the Alps when I was a kid, but near Grenoble, so I am in very unfamiliar territory here! The one thing I do know is: get a season pass no matter what (unless Covid...)

I am going to get my little ones on the slope on Sundays, but I would imagine both are comparable. Just need a magic carpet and a couple of easy lifts (2 and 4 years old...)

Interested in the topic. Because last year France was closed and I've been to the swiss side: Les Diableret, Verbier, Zermatt and Saas Fee.

But from Geneve it's closer to go to the French side to Les Portes du Soleil, I saw it's very big and the road is 1h 20 min long, it's not that much.
You also have Charmonix like another option.
The subscription for the seasson is like 600-700eur I think.

La Clusaz-Grand Bornand is a good option from Geneva, it for an advanced skier, Avoriaz and up and over Pas de Chavanette to Les Crosets and return is BIG and challenging...

and Champery - then link up to Champoussin, Morgins, up to Châtel, and even Chapelle d'Abondance and on to Tour de Donm down to Plan de Croix or Torgon and return via Switzerland is ... HUGE .

And of course Villars-Les Diablerets now ling up nicely, and it is even closer.

Zermatt ad Saas Fee are a long way away for a day or even week-end.
