how do you charge an ebike? I mean most bike sheds dont have an outlet so where do people park it to charge? I know some batteries are not removable, so do you all carry it up to your flat?
Id be interested in only the removeable battery type ones any recommendations for those bikes

And please always state a budget and intended kind of use when asking for recommendations. There are too many types of bikes at too many pricepoints to just give random recommendations.

You could rent/try an ebike and see for yourself which one is good and if you actually need one.
I charge my battery at home and it's not such a big problem.

If your budget is under 2K; https://www.gonser.ch/sport-freizeit...ahrrad/e-bike/
They are cheap but does the job perfectly. I purchased the BEAST-X (mid motor, hydraulic brakes etc.) sometime ago and still rides like new.

bikester.ch and bike24.de still have low to middle range e-bikes in stock and deliver (tax paid) into Switzelrand.
I just ordered a Cube trekking E-bike for around 3.000chf, should be delivered in the next week or so.

m-way.ch this is where I bought my Cube e-bike MTB for little as 1500 CHF 2 years ago.
Works perfect.
I also bought e-bike at gonser.ch for my wife and the bike is good but brakes are a bit clumsy

| | | | | 2 years ago there was plenty of 2019/2020 model stock. The double-whammy of supply chain issues and people taking up cyclind during lockdowns has reduced availability and pushed up prices.

Of course it doesn't take a law to make daylights useful for every one, regardless of max speed.
As for cheap e-bikes, see this city bike and this MTB by Landi, each for 1150.

From 2024, 45km/h e-bikes will require a speedometer, no doubt so they can receive camera fines in 20km/h or 30km/h zones.

I decided to go with this one as a starter e-bike. Minimalist bike from an American company. No gears, no fenders, no frills. Cost me CHF 800.00 with shipping (EU VAT subtracted, CH VAT added). Delivery time 7 to 15 days (from Holland).
I can always sell it for a small loss if I do not like it. If I take to e-biking, then I will go the Swiss route and spend a fortune on a bike and gear RadMission 1 - Electric Metro Bike https://radpowerbikes.eu/products/ra...32612898865245

The only real negative I could find in one review was:
"Its only real downside is that its not geared and cant climb a hill over 10% grade. This is the most important consideration as if you have a hilly commute you would be better off with a geared chain driven ebike. However a 10% hill is pretty steep so I think the majority will be happy."
The price is also very nice!

| | Re: I would like to buy new Ebike | Quote: | | | | | I don’t really want an e-bike; I want something just to help boost me during the harder climb at the end of my journey home, or something to give me a bit more help to explore a fewer of the more challenging neighborhoods nearby. | | | | | Hi, you could look at a bike with the Mahle Ebikemotion system. Typically a small battery fits in the frame and it has a discreet motor in the seat tube. It won't fling you around the countryside at 25 km/h for hours but it will get you up that last big hill before home...
This is one example but there are a few manufacturers using this system now... https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribbl...ku=BBGRAVLE000 |

| | Re: I would like to buy new Ebike | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | I haven't seen a single Ebike with its lamps on during the day since April 1.
The only time I have anyone mention it was when someone shouted at me that I needed lights on during the day - when I was riding my non-ebike!
I guess the Police will have a settling-in period for Ebike users.
