Rowing options in Zurich

I was wondering if anyone knew of a rowing club that could be easily joined. I would do any type of boat really, from single scull to an eight. I have 2 years experience in an eight.

Re: Rowing options in Zurich

Can't tell by your tag if you're male or female, which is relevant because many clubs are still boys only.

The easiest to join is the Ruderclub Zürich http://www.rcz.ch/ which is co-ed and you don't need a sponsor. It's subsidised by Migros.

Men's clubs include the Grasshopper's Club http://www.gcz-rudern.ch
and the Seeclub http://www.seeclub.ch
You need to be sponsored by members for these two, which are of the full-on old school elitist variety.

Good luck!

Re: Rowing options in Zurich

I loved living and working in Zurich (albeit on a monday to friday basis) and found it a nice place full of agreeable people.

So if it's a row you are after I suggest I send my wife over...she's good for that kind of thing, can start one up from absolutely anything and sometimes nothing.

EDIT: Sorry...just worked out what kind of rowing you meant!

Main index for all swiss rowing clubs is:

http://www.swissrowing.ch/
index of all clubs follow link on website to
CH-Club-Index

many, many clubs around the lake, without complex rules for joining or need for sponsorship best to pick your local one, also great way to meet the locals

good rowing

Re: Rowing options in Zurich

If you are from skandinavia theres is a fantastic rowing club by the lake. Called Nordiska. Also have great parties several times a year.

Further on they have all boat types ranging from beginner to 8. There is always a boat and mates who are willing to join in.

Re: Rowing options in Zurich

here's the website www.nordiska.ch its a scandinavian rowing club, but anyone is free to join (as long as you're a rower or Scandinavian). You have to go for an interview with the board and the yearly membership fees are around CHF 300.
