Online ski/outdoor shops

Can anyone recommend any Swiss on-line outdoors and ski shops? I am used to shopping from various places in the UK for outdoor clothing and equipment, plus ski/mountaineering stuff, and would really appreciate any recommendations of good Swiss on-line shops.

Thanks,
GenevaSculler

Hi GenevaScullar,

I am sure there are lots of better ones out there but I find http://www.baechli-bergsport.ch/ quite usfull.

I am sure that I am now going to get lots of replys telling me its rubbish but hey it works for me and may be we will both get a better solution

I've been looking unsuccessfully for 2+ years now. Hopefully someone has some input.

Two online shops (non-Swiss), for this type of gear, that I use are:

http://telemark-pyrenees.com/shop/index.php?language=en

and

http://www.sport-conrad.com/index.asp?lang_id=ENG

Re: Online ski/outdoor shops

I knew the skis and boots that I wanted and found them on ebay.com. The items were in Germany, so shipping was not expensive. Boots were new and skis were used only once.

Might be an alternative.

There are plenty of good real mortar and brick shops around so the swiss doesn't really need online ski shops.

here in the village I work there are 3 of them.

I was really talking more about outdoors and winter mountaineering stuff than skis in particular. The shops I've found so far in Geneva are all pretty small and with limited ranges available. I much prefer to research what is the best version of the bit of kit which I want, and then source it from wherever over the internet, but given the import duties/handling costs/some of the shops in the UK not shipping to Switzerland I was wondering if there was anything good based in Switzerland. I've got a list of at least 20 good internet outdoors shops which I have bought stuff from in the UK depending on where what I want is available and also cheapest. Seems that they haven't quite caught up with the internet revolution here yet...

Thanks Scuba Pro - very kind of you to offer! I'm not after anything in particular at the moment - it was more of a general question as I'd like to know where to look when I decide I really need something next time.

I think Europe in general is way behind the US in these regards. People are still more concerned with supporting their local shops rather than trying to save some money. I would like to do both but sometimes it is difficult to support the local shops when you know that you can save a substantial amount of money by just ordering online. Not to mention the convenience of online shopping.

SportScheck has plenty of good deals IMHO.

Swissies are not really into online shopping, I think.

I'm from the UK, and there it seems to be much more advanced than Switzerland. At the moment I am ordering things from the UK as it is still cheaper and easier than finding things from Switzerland - the post office must be happy!

The increased convenience is particularly important for me especially when I do sport every weekend, and find it difficult to get to the shops during their short opening hours (cue link to thread about no 24-hour shopping )

I'm sure my GCSE German plus a bit of trial and error, mixed in with the pictures on the website, should see me through

Re: Online ski/outdoor shops

I can suggest the new online shop for skies.
www.skifactory.ch

they are providing reasonable prices. they only concentrate on skis. it's fresh but trustworthy.

Re: Online ski/outdoor shops

I had a very good experience with Grassi Sport (www.grassisport.it), a small independent Italian store. Their website looks horrible, but they have great prices and selection. For more advanced skiers' equipment, especially current season ranges, they had better selection than much larger stores in Switzerland and Germany.

I ordered skis, boots and bindings from them, and paid via PayPal. I looked up their seller rating on eBay and looked at their store on Google StreetView so I knew they were trustworthy. I received everything promptly. Would definitely buy from them again.
