Places to ski around Morges/ Lausanne

Hi all

We've just started to take family skiing day trips, and wondered if anyone had particular places that they would recommend.

We're practically beginners - the kids really are, and hubby and I haven't skied for years and weren't THAT good then - so we need places with easy, non-challenging runs. Ideally, I'm looking for small ski stations, perhaps with one or two lifts, that don't get over-run with package tourism.

We've been to Les Paccots a couple of times, and it's quite nice, but just SO busy. We're nowhere near the level of being able to benefit from their extensive facilities, so would prefer somewhere small and, to most people, boring...

Happy to head out either Lausanne way or Geneva way. Anywhere spring to mind..?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Places to ski around Morges/ Lausanne

Thanks guys, very helpful, especially Smackerjack as I hadn't come across that little clump of Jura resorts before.

Looks like just the sort of thing we need: small, flat, and somewhere one of us can play in the snow with our 'not currently interested in skiing' 4 yr old, complete with regular hot chocolate breaks, whilst the luckier parent gets to take the 8 yr old up the slope!

Are these little resorts likely to be open on Jan 1st, does anyone know? Hubby/ son have already got lessons booked at Les Paccots for tomorrow, but I fancy trying one of these new ones after that.

Thanks.

What about St. Cergue?

http://www.st-cergue.ch/stcer.htm
Just to follow up - we went to St Cergue today, and it's brilliant for families with young children. There are 3 ski runs, red, an easyish blue and a very shallow green nursery slope which the youngest child/ rank beginner should manage. The ski resort is bang in the centre of the village, so when you all get cold and hungry, there's whole load of shops and cafes within a couple of minutes' walk. There are clean toilets right by the slopes. AND there's a fabulous sledging place just next to the slopes, too, in what in sunnier times is the village play area (complete with play equipment that'll freeze your fingers off if you try and climb it ).

All in all, a very low-effort, high-reward place for those with young children who want/need everything on tap, and especially suitable for families like us who are sharing the childcare and sledging/skiing on a 3 runs on, 3 runs off basis.

Thanks for the recommendation. Oh, and if you go over lunchtime, the place is deserted - the Swiss trend for a 2-3 hour lunch break also stands us in good stead for the Morges ice-rink, too...

St-Cerge is an small villag Skilift.

it is part of a whole complex of ski stations, Les Rousses that is just behind the mountain where St-Cerge is

And just to the side of that, more to Gex and Genève, Les Monts Jura, a little biger and better, it has even an snowpark on top.
