Late Winter Hiking?

It's going to be a glorious day on Sunday. Is is possible to go hiking this time of the year? Disclaimer: I don't have proper winter boots but I do have some waterproof hiking boots.

If so, would anyone care to join? Otherwise, I can try a fairly simple hike alone. I'd like to go somewhere that's easily accessible by public transport as I don't have a GPS (for driving) yet.

Here is a link to a site with day-hike suggestions and time of year. I went last weekend with my regular boots near Reuti on a popular hiking trail and it was pretty packed down. When we wanted to take a less used route it was more difficult.

Re: Late Winter Hiking?

Oh ya - I use that site too.
Also I noticed you are in Zurich. I once did a about 4 hour solo hike Forch-Pfannenstiel-Mannendorf. Just take the train to Forch station and follow the wanderweg signs - I had no problem. Then I just took the train back from Mannedorf. It was quite popular (in April), so I suspect the snow will be packed down.

Also, this site of avalanche risk can be useful when winter hiking. http://www.slf.ch/lawineninfo/lawine...karte/index_EN

Go snow-shoeing. It's much more fun than following a trail. If you don't have snowshoes, they can be rented.
