That doesn't seem fair, it's double the weight! I just received two packages betwen 8 and 9lbs and had no issues. But apparently you really have to be careful - and some luck is also involved...
Yep, I think I will stick to the 4usd slow DHL for re-ups, as these will be less heavy. Just wanted to get some items a bit quicker than 10 days. Apparently they weigh the packages to get the gross amount: the woman I spoke to was [surprisingly] helpful and really went to some lengths to explain the process to avoid me being charged in future, so Ive no reason to suspect any BS.

Hey guys!

By nutritional supplements I mean Whey Protein, Acids, Maltodextrine, Efedrine and so on...

So my first question is: is nutritional supplements legal here in Switzerland? I never found any other one but the Swiss made being sold here in Bern... So I am wondering that.

Well, if it is legal, any know a store where I can buy? Maybe even online? Would be great.

Thanks guys!
stumbled onto this very very old thread... if you still want a place to get ephedra, I just stumbled on this while looking for seaweed... maybe as a tea it will go across the border with no questions.? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot-s...749769842.html

if you are wondering of the validity of a china site... I've ordered several items with no troubles, one does have to wait 10 to 20 days for the free deliveries, so I buy stuff I don't need in a rush...
also iherb.com is great, they've added a grocery section and you can buy miso concentrate, Mochi rice and other stuff not found on a Swiss shelf :-)

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

I have a problem with an order from discount-supplements.co.uk and I did not want to open a new thread.

I get some weird messages from the tracking:

05.05.2016 13:22 Arrival at border point of destination country
05.05.2016 13:22 Postal customs clearance process underway
07.05.2016 09:15 Returned in accordance with instructions
11.05.2016 12:26 The consignment has left the Swiss border point

wtf? Returned according to what instructions ? Why it left from Swiss again?

I found out an interesting point on the post.ch website:

Die Warenwertobergrenze (inkl. Transportkosten) für eine mehrwertsteuerbefreite Einfuhr liegt bei:
  • 8% MWST (Grossteil der Sendungen) => CHF 62.-
  • 2,5% MWST (z.B. Bücher) => CHF 200.-
Since proteins are part of the 2,5 percent group you should be able to order till 200 CHF withouth getting import fees! I just ordered for 100 dollar at iHerb. Hope it works
Correct, but there is a possible duty (not VAT) based on weight. I got hit once when the gross weight of the package exceeded 5kg (11 lbs)... I rang the VAT office to ask why.

Once I got charged VAT by mistake as the importer put the wrong tariff code. That got reimbursed. I always used DHL as it's cheap and very fast.

Here is a referrer code that will give you a few bucks off a first time order (and me some credit too) if you found this useful http://www.iherb.com?rcode=ZRG608

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

I ordered again, the net weight was 4.2 kg so I was confident that the gross would be under 5 kg.

It turns out that the gross weight was 5.4 kg, but I did not have to pay a duty this time. They don't seem to be very consistent with the weight rule.
