Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

Hey guys!

By nutritional supplements I mean Whey Protein, Acids, Maltodextrine, Efedrine and so on...

So my first question is: is nutritional supplements legal here in Switzerland? I never found any other one but the Swiss made being sold here in Bern... So I am wondering that.

Well, if it is legal, any know a store where I can buy? Maybe even online? Would be great.

Thanks guys!

I'm pretty sure you won't get ephadrine legally here in Switzerland without a prescription. The rest is readily available.

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

Yeah, I thought about the legallity of Ephedrine.
But I suppose I can find some other similar products that are OK, right?

Any idea of a website?

Thanks!

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

You could try http://swiss-supplements.ch/chiSiamo.php

They're based in Lugano. The website's in English and they are fairly quick to answer questions. Only complaint I had was that the order took longer than I expected because a few items weren't in stock. I've since learned that quite a lot of online Swiss stores aren't quite as smooth in communication and order updates as in the US and UK.

But, they gave me lots of freebie bars and have decent prices so I can definitely recommend them.

The larger Migros (XXX) and Manor have sport sections stocking proteins, carbs, etc. in various formats (powders, drinks, bars, etc.).

This is a well established Swiss brand

Also well known is Nestle's PowerBar

Sponser is a Swiss brand. It is widely stocked in Swiss shops. Unsure whether it is better or worse than other brands.

The best stuff is this here, Optimum Nutrition 100% Classic Whey Protein http://www.pfood.ch/products/de/Prot...300g-Dose.html

Decent site, ordered from them before... delivery was quick. My mate uses them too regularly with no issues

They ship to Switzerland. You'll have to pay import duties though. But anyway, it's much cheaper.

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

Thanks all. I will go pick up my supply of Optimum Nutrition 100% Classic Whey Protein this afternoon. Fortunately, powerfood ag has a shop here in Zurich: http://www.pfood.ch/content/de/Power...rich-City.html

By the way, anyone recommend CLA? I've read good things about it, just not sure if I would be putting my body through hell by combining it with whey. It's sold here as well http://www.pfood.ch/products/de/Diae...-200-Caps.html

Thanks

Why are you in such a mad rush to get big? Use the protein, work out heavily 3x a week, and eat 4-5x small meals a day and you will pile on the muscle in months if you have a regular body type (which unfortunately I don't)..

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

CLA works suprisingly nice. You can get it at the Migros for a reasonable price. I can't say yet whether to recommend it or not I only just started my 3rd box but nothing weird has shown up yet.

Combining it with whey, I don't know. Perhaps not mixing too many things all at once is better for the body ...

Re: Buying Nutritional Supplements here in Switzerland

Supplements are really expensive in Switzerland, even when bought on the internet. I first started like that after discovering how easy it was to order from the US, I haven't even thought of buying here again.

My favorite shop is iHerb. They have a really excellent choice of products, great prices and best of all free shipping to Switzerland for orders over 60$ and 4$ otherwise! The trick is to keep the orders just over 60$. I've never paid taxes after more than 20 orders (66CHF is the official limit but iHerb generally indicates a lower value than what you have paid). But if you wan't to play it sure, you can pay the 4$ shipping and order less. And if you are in a hurry and want to be able to track your shipping, you get good prices with DHL (the free/4$ can be slow sometimes, but 100% reliable for me until now at least). You have to be even more careful with DHL with the customs, because they charge you higher fees for administrative costs than the Swiss post. For a 5$ discount on your first order, you can use the following code: PEK942.

I've never had any problems with customs due to what I've ordered, it seems Switzerland is pretty easy on this. I don't think iHerb sells much that would be illegal here, which is not the case in Finland where even over 400IU of vitamin D would be stopped by customs (I luckily saw that before ordering for my parents there).

As for protein, Country Life BioChem and Jarrow Formulas are great for Whey. They have a good selection of non-dairy protein too, but they mostly taste quite bad if not mixed in a smoothie or so. The best I have found is Nutribiotic Vanilla. Jarrow Formulas is ok for smoothies (especially putting a banana helps a lot with the flavor).

Hope this helps!
