| | Cyclist Spring Social (Zurich)
I figured it was about time to make a new thread for this subject! (you can see previous discussions here: Road Ride In Zurich Area on Sunday March 1?)
Basically it seems to have become a sort of tradition to have a social gathering of cyclists in the Zurich area (plus anyone who is willing to travel in, including two of our fave "EF cycling celebrities"!) at the beginning and end of the summer cycling season, to discuss all things cycling-related (and skiing, which always seems to work itself in the conversations), and possibly to plan rides and share info about events during the year.
So now for the planning... Thank you for all the suggestions on location. Here is the plan I suggest:
Monday, April 6th
6:30pm or later Restaurant Reithalle
Date: I am thinking now that Monday would be better than Wednesday as I mentioned earlier, since I don't want to get in the way of the Wednesday night running group...PLUS it is a full moon Wednesday, an April Fool moon actually
Location: I like this suggestion since I have been there and can vouch that it was not too smoky inside, since it is large, as you said Yokine, and air flow is ok...
Still I need to call the place to confirm that this is ok there that night. I was just thinking it would be nice to have a place where we can all mingle easily.
In the meantime, let me know what you think (but be nice! ). If the date is ok for a majority and the location works out then I will put it on the calendar.
Oh, and the weather does look so nice and springlike for this coming week - maybe some of you will already start some weeknight group riding (seems like you got a great start to the season today already!). Unfortunately I won't be able to plan any ride this week myself since I have a big work deadline (the due date is actually next Monday the 6th, so that will be another good reason for me to celebrate that night!).
Looking forward to seeing you all, and meeting more new cycling-addicted EF friends as well | The following 5 users would like to thank hillseeker for this useful post:

| | | | | I heard the full moon brings out all kinds of advntr-ous luna(r)-tics.
You better make sure the men in white coats are close by!
Should be able to make the social on the Monday. I already have a couple of things which clash on the Wednesday. | This user would like to thank Eire for this useful post:

For the record, the men in white coats always bring along the "huggy jackets" and they're available for anyone who skis up mountains at night (or bikes down them at night)!
As for the official EF social launch of the 2009 cycling season, thanks for the organizing HS! I'm in and look forward to seeing everyone.

I think at the moment I would be able to make this
- is a bummer, that I am again going to be working on the full moon, I will try and make sure I am over that side of the country this time and if the weather is good - then who knows.

Are you trying to make sure that we come by organizing the event on my birthday? We'll have to see what we can do.

We should have it on top of a hill though to give Salsa an incentive to climb.

If it is required that I start cycling so I can come hang out, then so be it.
We are not allowed in Woodsie's dungeon: that is why we call him Fritzl.

I need to find things to do since I am unemployed | | | | | For sure come along! (I promise there will be no limboing whatsoever at this event... )
Although you do realise you are volunteering to spend on evening with a room predominantly full of men who are (mostly) really skinny, willingly (if not enthusiastically) wear spandex in their spare time, and will drone on for hours about 'stiffness' and 'endurance' and... well.... you get the picture. I might not be pretty.
Don't say I didn't warn you....
