Tennis in Berne

I will be visiting Bern May 23-31, and am looking to play tennis. I will be staying on Jubilaumstrasse, and I have noticed that there are some tennis courts right behind my mother-in law's home next to the Ka-We-De swimming pools. Are these open to the public?

I would love to be able to play tennis while I am in Bern (I'm English but live in the US - I have a USTA tennis rating of 4.0).

Anyone interested in playing?

Re: Tennis in Berne

Hello Fran,
sorry, but I have seen your search request first today, of course I don´t know how successful your search is until today, but I was a half-pro as a junior player, later I absolved national and intern. tennis coach and instructors certifications.
Tennis was and is a part of my life, since 2007 I´m here in Berne, but it is very difficult to find an equivalent partner, it should not be only beginners, so if you will have and find time, you can call me by my handy no. 076 4650083.
I´m working here in Berne as System analyst.
Kind regards
Joachim

Hi Fran, guests of members are welcome at the Dählhölzli club and Rot Weiss courts above them, you would have to go and wait and speak to anyone you see. They are friendly, many speak English, but the Swiss system is based on haveing games with friends arranged in advance. You could set up games for the weekdays. Bring cards with your phone number.

I'm organising games tomorrow Sunday 24, at Tivoli hall, near Bern, see here if you want to register: http://www.doodle.com/b9wb6bm7yr689vkw

We have a mailing list for English speaking tennis players around Bern, some are quite good but we welcome all levels. Call Micha and Sabrina for a hard game but perhaps they are in Australia at the moment. Email: mklayich@yahoo.com Phone: 031 5300083 or 078 7791574 Or me 031 829 3479 or Sarah 031 381 3388 sarah@swissgolfnetwork.ch

Re: Tennis in Berne

Hello Graham,
I have tried to contact Fran, the search request sounds very interesting.
Well, I was a half-pro as a junior player in Germany, later I absolved national and intern. tennis coach and instructors certifications.
Tennis was and is still a part of my life, since 2007 I´m here in Berne, but it is very difficult to find an equivalent partner, he or she should not have only a beginner level. Since 6 month I´ve found no opportunities to play with a Swiss person, for me it is a small personal desaster. Perhaps you can organize contacts about your network to persons you are interesting to play tennis regularly, you can call me by my handy no. 076 4650083.
I´m working here in Berne as system analyst, living in Spiez at the Thun lake.
Kind regards
Joachim
