| | Re: Baby swimming
I have no idea where Opfikon is so can't help with specifics. Do a google search for "babyschwimmen ch schweiz" or something similar and you are bound to find something available in your area. Alternatively, just look on the bulletin board at your local pool and there will be something posted there.
After taking our three kids to baby swimming courses (both here and in the States) I am inclined to think that they are mainly a scam. Just go to the pool with your baby and spend some time in the water with them. These classes are only good to get your kids used to being in the water and anything beneficial gained from the instructor can be found after a few minutes of internet searching. It's not that difficult and a "professional" is not going to be able to make a screaming baby want to be in the water better than mommy or daddy in any case. Once the child is old enough for real swim lessons, then I am in favor of using a professional instructor and having mommy or daddy around is actually a hindrance.

| | Re: Baby swimming | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Thank you allegra (and Patxi) for staying on topic. I am already familiar with this hotel and it is exactly what I am looking for, I was simply wondering if there was something similar actually in Opfikon. | Quote: | | | | | Just go to the pool with your baby and spend some time in the water with them | | | | | I agree, this is my motivation for trying to find a pool suitable for the new arrival. Yes everybody, I have had another baby since 2007! | Quote: | | | | | 'Swimming in Switzerland' has its own Sticky Thread in Sports/Fitness with addresses of pools and often details of what goes on there. | | | | | Yes, I was aware of this "Sticky". Unless I am mistaken this only covers public pools and has no information specifically about pools suitable for young babies.
The best option appears to be private pools in hotels/spas, hence my original post.
Clearly the brevity of my original post was an issue, but it was simply an open question to the forum.

The water is also fully cleaned daily and your eyes don't sting from loads of chlorine.
My baby loves splashing away and picking up the toys and putting them on the walls and in containers. We go to a baby plus 1 older kid class where my son gets confidence in the water with the security of mum and dad being with him. After 4 classes, he now goes under the water - a prerequisite for the swimming classes from age 4. The biggest benefit was gained from seeing other kids in the water leaning at the same time.
EDIT: we used to go to the pool ourselves, but pool entry for 2 adults works out more expansive than a class and the pool is sometimes very crowed.

| | Re: Baby swimming The reason for my suggestion to look up this Information in 'Swimming in Switzerland' on the Forum (and this time it really IS easy to find), is this. Allegra took the time to write a comprehensive answer to the OP, but this turned out to be information which the OP had already known, but hadn’t mentioned. So basically Allegra’s effort was a dead waste of her time. And this happens all too often on EF. The information Allegra found may be useful to someone else at some point, but it will only be 'valid' for a certain length of time. If you follow my suggestion and go through the links ‘Swimming in Switzerland’, the second post gives Swimming Schools. Then click on aqua-baby and go down the list looking for Opfikon – One course in Opfikon and one course in Zürich Swissôtel are shown with Rose Jehli as the teacher. Address, Telephone number plus links to an e-mail address are given and the location is shown on a map. And anyone else looking for a baby swimming course, or any other sort of swimming course for that matter, can follow the same route. It may not always be successful, but it is perhaps worth trying before asking.

| | Re: Baby swimming - pools + courses - Zürich region. Links CH
I am probably going to get a big telling off now by longbyt BUT I have looked at this thread several times looked at all the links provided and I am still struggling to locate a baby swimming class thats in English or mixed?
i am interested in the swissotel class seeing as its very local to me, I did email them but got a very confusing response back. Basically Allegra or anyone else who went to this class can you tell me if the class exclusively in German?
Thanks
P.S Also call me dim but looking at websites like this http://www.babys-im-wasser.ch/ I can't see where these classes are held?
EDIT: OK so I called swissotel and got the following info
They have classes on Tuesdays and Fridays with Fridays classes being in English (or mixed English/German) from 9 - 9.30. Classes for the 10 week course started last Friday but they allow you to start a few weeks later if you miss the start and only charge for the amount of lessons you go to.
Hope that helps some other dimwits like me
