Looking for alpine climbing partner

Hi,

My name is Stefan and I have lived in Zurich since January 2009. I am looking for someone to do alpine climbs with here in Switzerland. You don't have to be from Zurich since most climbs will be outside Zurich anyway.

I am looking for someone who is comfortable crossing crevassed areas, roping up, wearing crampons, belaying etc, but does definitely not have to be a very experienced climber.

Send me a message if you are interested.

Best regards

//Stefan

Re: Looking for alpine climbing partner

Hi Stefen,

I am in Zurich since June 09. I am also looking for a climbing partner, the sooner the better (summer is not that long anymore). If you already have someone to climb with, I would appreciate if you could maybe introduce me to some people with the same interest.

It seems that its relatively easy to find rock climbing partners, but not that easy to find someone to do hochtouring/alpine climbing with. I am not very experienced with snow conditions and may need some technical help at first, but I am quite fit (from running and cycling) and have done rock climbing (5c+) top-rope indoors. I have also done extensive hikes (9 days at avg 3 000m...but without snow) However my only interest at the moment is alpine climbing.

Would appreciate your response.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Regards
Willem

Re: Looking for alpine climbing partner

Hi folks!

I've just moved to Zurich, and I also looking for a rock climbing partner. Unfortunetly I am not used to Alpine climbing (mainly something involved ice), but I am quite used to rock climbing.

If someone is interested to indoor and/or rock climbing I am in. I am not with my full hack here, but we can manage that.

Stefan, I know that you are looking for someone used to mixed climbing, but if you need someone to rock climbing we can manage something.

Cheers,
Laerte

Hi guys, I fit this description as well. I think I am a borderline candidate in terms of both ability/knowledge and also keeness to join, but I would appreciate if you guys post here in case something works out. Basically I love mountains, and I have signed up for a couple of mountain running races as a way to enjoy the Alps. Between this and work, I won't have time to squeeze in for the climbing event, hence my hope to piggy ride in case something gets organized by others. Hope you understand

Obviously I am looking for more of a serious hike, than climbing, with possible easy climbs that can be done free hand without any rope.

I don't have any equipment other than climbing finches and a harness.

Thanks

Re: Looking for alpine climbing partner

In any case I wish you guys will post some of your discussions on your exploits, as the cycling and running groups do; there would be atleast some of us on EF who would like to read and enjoy them vicariously

Cheers!

how unexperienced can one be? i would really like to do it but have no experience whatsoever. if that would be possible, with a low probability of dying, i would really like to do it.

Hi Tereza,

I am also new to Basel, been here 6 weeks. If you're into hikes like these or other challenging 1 day hikes then PM me and I'll let you know my next trip and if you're interested to join.

Hi Stefan,

Would be great to do mountain climbing, but will have to start from the begining.

I think its best I restart indoor climbing and then some outdoors to build up stamina before trying what you have on offer.

Keep us posted.

J
